Nah,…it’s not the name of my new band (too much of a rip-off of Earth, Wind and Fire). Its what its like in Alberta – smoke in the north, rain, now too much of it in the southern two-thirds prompting the issuance of high-water advisories, and the largest fire in Alberta’s history is still burning,…but as of this weekend it is being held at 1.6 million acres with only minor escapes. Rain is still very much needed up there.

And thanks to those hardy guys and gals from B.C., Ontario, NWT, and Mexico who have, and are still helping out on this and several other fires in northern Alberta,…combined with Alberta there are over 900 fighters on the line up there. But alas, some of the troops go weary, and the call has come for us soggy southerners to provide some relief.

So tomorrow morning I must saddle up “Chuckles”, my trusty old (and a bit-near-sighted) grizzly bear and ride on up into the north country to help out. I truly hope to be back in time for the 1st Annual Running of the Bears, but one never be sure on the time-frame when it comes to matters like this!

Take care everyone and have a great summer!

rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing It does sound a bit like hockey,....but hockey is done for the year, so maybe its time to start with analogies to football,...nah,...I wouldn't win that one either,...you'd win that "game" too,...distracting me when the ref wasn't looking with illegal "backfield" motion,...wink rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

Some of that smoke made it all the way to Williams Lake. We were trying to figure out where the fire was. I thought it was up in the Yukon.

I feel for you with the smoke, we had to deal with really heavy smoke in Williams Lake last summer.

Its smoky here also today,...the fire in northeastern Alberta is being held,...still, but it will continue burning for quite some time to come. A fire five times the size of Vancouver can generate a lot of smoke. The Yukon does indeed have a few burning, so I can't be sure,..but if the wind there is coming out of the northeast,..its from here!
