I don't think I would've went to that estreem and did what he did.

I don't have insurance coverage anyway. Can't afford to buy it.I pay cash for my own medical bills.

I don't have medical insurance either. I am covered by Indian Health Services but I still have to pay for my visits, medications, if any and any surgeries or referrals. I definitely cannot afford to get ill at this time.

I do not believe that I would go to his extreme's either.

What really blows for me is that even though I can prove I'm of Indian decent I can't join the tribe I trace to cause the rolls are closed.I can't even qualify for medicade cause I don't fit the critera. It's catch 22.

I don't receive services in all states, as I am Alaskan Native and we belong to corporations rather than tribes. Some Indian Health Clinics will accept my BIA card (proof of Indian Blood) and some will not, even though my corporation is federally recognized.

I have no issues paying for my healthcare, I just wish more Indian Health Clinics were like Alaska's.

I understand the frustration regarding the rolls closed. Happened to a lot of individuals. Not sure about the Medicaid criteria.

The long and short answer is: Not really. Some can qualify for Adult Assistance, might or might not include Healthcare. There are free clinics in most counties/cities but even then, most patients must pay for part of their services.

If they use an emergency room for their only form of medical help, then the costs are absorbed by the tax-payers in the form of higher property taxes and sales taxes.

Its terrible really , so what the government are saying you wont get help unless your on your death bed and in an emergency room .(If you cant afford to pay and need serious medical help )

Its obvious that he has always worked or tried to maintain a job ..and of course paid his taxes .. yet when he is down on his luck he cant get help !

God bless him i say ! bouquet

Yep, Hi CC,
and governor Kasick has the entire OSU medical center at his disposal 24/7/365. Only Ohio prisoners go ahead of him at their emergency rooms.

In my area we have what is called public hospitals. They can not turn you away. But they only have to give you the minimal care. I think that is so sad. I found that out when I wanted to know why they would not give a friend of mine an operation that would of saved her life. She was young, she also is no longer alive. By the time a way came to get her her operation she had been dead twenty four hourscrying

I had not thought of it till I seen this on the news this morning. I do have insurance but it has changed this year. The big corps are getting ready for Obama care and so I guess they are now making private health insurance really really expensive. So where I work pays for part but now I pay for a bigger part of it. I feel they are going to try and force us into haveing to take Obama care when it is available. I pay for it but it is high and I still have to pay for certain things I did not have to pay for before more on blood work exrays etc..... They just trying to push me down blues

Thank you so muchteddybear I did not realize it either untill I tried to help her to get medical attention. If she had of been on food stamps or something it might of been better. But she never needed help from the government till then. She was young. And the surgery could of given her twenty more years. I now know the difference in how they treat people with medical problems here. And it is not always easy to get help in time when you need it.sad flower

I think sometimes that "Obamacare" was a well intended concept but trying to read through the volume(s) of laws, rules and legal mumbo-jumbo is too much.

I don't know that anyone would be better off for their healthcare needs.
