HealthyLiving: Do you regularly detoxify your body to remove toxins?

Please share which methods you use.

If you do not detoxify, you can learn through reading here and I am sure that if you ask those who do, we will be more than glad to help you.

I'm doing regular detox/colon cleanse with MELILEA from Greenfield Organic (check out on youtube)

I just got off another 10 day detox juice fast and feeling amazing! Full of energy and a fantastic skin - loosing weight is about the only negative side effect.

Wow_Factor: I don't know about detox, but the less processed our diet is the better. Rather than detox, and then going back to bad habits I think the following is better. However it is easier said than done!

No processed food, everything cooked from scratch. Organic fruit and vegetables as much as possible. Free-range poultry and eggs. Not much red meat. Enough water to drink based on your height and weight. Plenty of good sleep after an evening winding-down etc. It is no good detoxing and then filling the body with bad food and drink. Having said that I personally don't drink enough water, eat processed food, don't exercise enough etc., etc. It is always easier to talk the talk rather than walk the walk.


I'd add to that checking the balance of your meals. Not in terms of calories but in terms of which foods turn to acid in the stomach and which foods turn to alkaly. Most people eat such an acidic diet that the level of acidity in the blood prevents the body from regenerating healthy cells and this leads to dis-ease. Do a search on the net and check out which foods will help restore the balance. Foods like lemons although have high acid content turn to alkaly in the stomach. In fact it's an excellent one to use each day to start tipping that balance. The juice of freshly quizzed lemons in the water you drink.

uh oh My parents eat anything that catches their fancey , and they are 80+ going stong...I possibly carry the DNA that they have....I also eat the same ...todate...all is healthy and mind is clear...fitter than 99% of people my age and also less gray hair .drinking

Yes, balance is key.
I drink lemon water all day, or water with a splash of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar. Sometimes drink Chlorophyll drops in my water too.

olaix: I've taken several lectures on healthy living, nutrition, lifelong health etc, by veteran ph.d's, and all of them are united in debunking "detox" by stating that there really is no scientific evidence behind the claims, and that some of them are downright dangerous. The body is fantastic - and usually take care of it itself, however, by constantly giving the body the wrong stuff, and to much of it will make if feel sluggish.

To "cleanse" the body once a week, while stuffing the face with bad quality food seems kind of a joke, but a typical example of the easy-fix mentality our society has grown into "normal".


Right, just eat proper food, full of vitamins and minerals, don't drink too much alcohol and the liver will do the job. Liver is good on detoxification, the fads are for someone making money on them.

Actually body takes care itself about acid-alkali balance and it does not deviate far from the norm. However, too much acidity causes loss of minerals from bones since they are needed to keep the blood acidity balanced. On the other hand, too alkaline blood is no better, if not worse. Not everyone tolerates lemons and loads of fresh vegetables, all people have different metabolism. But everyone will benefit from keeping inflammation in body in check. Eat little sweets and moderate carbohydrates and fat plus plenty of vegetables, fresh or boiled, whatever you tolerate. Omega 3 reduce inflammation, so fresh fish is good to eat. If you think it is expensive, check how much you spend on junk! I see people buying truckloads of junk in supermarket and saying good food is expensive! Better little of good and nourishing than loads of junk.
