I had one thrill, after having my first Doberman, Jake trained. Watching the lady trainer go around and see him perform. I cried.
He knew no commands before he started and was a wild thing.
Then I got to do the same lap around with him. He had done all of his commands well.

Jake was being walked by the trainer with a bunch of other dogs going down a trail by herself.A man came up to her with all those dogs and looked like he was up to no good. My Doberman, Jake, started growling at him and was ready to get him. Then the guy said, you have a vicious dog. Jake was ready to protect. The guy left the area. When she told me, I was not surprised. She said she was very glad to have Jake with her.

AtwoZ: Depends on how you count manhood.....

Hmmm..a bit weird, you seem to have an urge to prove anything all the time, why´s that?

Not the first time, you get back to what you´ve done in the past...

But remember, that was then, now is now....

Easy that question. Perhaps this might explain:

FOR THOSE BORN BEFORE 1984 According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were kids in the 60's, 70's and early 80's probably shouldn't have survived, because our baby cots were covered with brightly coloured lead-based paint which was promptly chewed and licked. We had no childproof lids on medicine... bottles, or latches on doors or cabinets and it was fine to play with pans When we rode our bikes, we wore no helmets, just flip-flops and fluorescent 'spokey dokey's' on our wheels. As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or airbags and riding in the passenger seat was a treat. We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle and it tasted the same. We ate chips, bread and butter pudding and drank fizzy juice with sugar in it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside playing. We shared one drink with four friends, from one bottle or can and no-one actually died from this. We would spend hours building go-carts out of scraps and then went top speed down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into stinging nettles a few times, we learned to solve the problem. We would leave home in the morning and could play all day, as long as we were back before it got dark. No one was able to reach us and no one minded. We did not have Play stations or X-Boxes, no video games at all. No 99 channels on TV, no videotape movies, no surround sound, no mobile phones, no personal computers, no DVDs, no Internet chat rooms. We had friends - we went outside and found them. We played elastics and rounders, and sometimes that ball really hurt! We fell out of trees, got cut, and broke bones but there were no law suits. We had full on fist fights but no prosecution followed from other parents. We played knock-the-door-run-away and were actually afraid of the owners catching us. We walked to friends' homes. We also, believe it or not, WALKED to school; we didn't rely on mommy or daddy to drive us to school, which was just round the corner. We made up games with sticks and tennis balls. We rode bikes in packs of 7 and wore our coats by only the hood. The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was unheard of...they actually sided with the law. This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers and problem solvers and inventors, ever. The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all. And you're one of them. Congratulations to all the others who have had the luck to grow as real kids, before lawyers and government regulated our lives, for our own good. For those of you who aren't old enough, thought you might like to read about us.grin cheers

Cable Television and the Earthquake:

On February 23, 1986, Northeast, Ohio experienced a major event: a (5) point earthquake. That is not uncommon for Ohio, but it was uncommon for the new cable TV industry. The fault line was located about (3) miles offshore in Lake Erie, and it hadn’t erupted for many years.

I happened to be at dispatch because I was nursing a broken ankle. I enjoyed the job duty; I knew the area, the customers and our technicians.

The Earth started to quake in the morning. It felt like the floor in the building was going up and down. I panicked…couldn’t walk. All phone lines went dead (We didn’t have computers in those days, but we had radios). It lasted about (30) seconds.

During the quake, my Supervisor started yelling “Earthquake”. Chris looked out the backdoor and witnessed something that he had never seen. One of our technicians just happened to be straddled on top of his truck, mounting a new antenna. Shorty the technician was screaming help as his vehicle was jumping wildly. Skyscrapers swayed in nearby Cleveland, Ohio.

I couldn’t call for help because the phones weren’t working for a few minutes (Too many people trying to use them at the same time, but our radios were working). We expected a catastrophic event, but through our fears, we were safe.

The stories:

- Darrell was strapped on a telephone pole that swayed wildly…

- Tim was servicing an underground vault. He heard a roaring sound and started to run because he thought a gas line explosion was eminent.

- Dan got so confused while driving, that he ran into a telephone pole and injured his back.

- Tom was so concerned that he called 911 to offer help.

From our radio conversations, we thought the world was ending. We expected that all cable television, as we knew it, would require us to rebuild. It wasn’t to be so, the cable TV system survived miraculously. It turned out to be the quietest period of service time that we ever had.

The funniest story was from my family and my brother Arthur. He had a dog named Abby. It was normal for Abby to run circles around Arthur's centrally located bathroom. Arthur was using the “John”. He got angry and punished his dog before he learned of the Earthquake.
