Actually when I go to the store I alwat engage the cashier in small talk ...and I always get them to at the very least to smile.....My wife and I we're in the store and she bought some "Baby Wipes"...when we got to the counter I said to the young male cashier...."I guess she needs to wipe her baby"... he tryed very very hard not to laugh ....which was funnier than what I had said...Try a random act of kindness. Often, I "randomly" meet the nicest people....all it takes is a smile and hello!

I actually did it Just before I was going to work, I was at the book store, where I usually order books - - - - There were two nice girls working there - - - - So I got them those "angel Messages" one for each - - - It is kind of an inspirational note - - - sort of - - - After I bought the book, I gave one note to each, just to put a smile on their faces, I said good bye and left

While waiting in line at the grocery store I helped a guy in a wheelchair lift his grocery bags off the hooks and put them in his cart.He looked at me said thanik you and smiled and told me that no one has ever done that kind of thing for him before. I know I made his day.
Another time I helped somewone who was having trouble reaching someone on a shelf.
Makes me feel so good doing things like that for others.

What a coincidence that this thread appeared.
A couple days ago I walked out of the grocery store with my cart. There was an elderly man in front of me pushing a car filled to the brim with bags of groceries.
He was pushing his cart with one hand and walking with a cane with the other hand. It was a grueling hot day and I thought it will take him forever to put the groceries in the car so I offered to help him. He said thank you but that he didn't need help.
I was parked near him so I thought I'll watch to make sure he's okay but I saw that he had to hold onto the cart while struggling with the other hand to put the bags in the car so I tried again to ask him to let me help him. Once again he said no thank I can do it.
Well I have to say I was a little persistent and I took a bag out of his cart and put it in the back seat where he wanted it. He was going along with it but I could tell it wasn't his nature to let anyone help him. The back seat was full with bags so now I had to go to the trunk. Some of the bags were very heavy and I asked him how is he going to bring them into the house. He said a neighbor will help him but I had a feeling that he was going to do it himself.
When I was done loading the bags I engaged him in conversation so he wouldn't think my deed was out of pity for him. We talked for a long time, in the hot sun, but I felt it was worth it to make him comfortable that he accepted my help..

At work, we have some grumpy old ladies who are always pissing and moaning about everything. I can just about always put a smile on there face regardless how hard they are trying not to smile. Then I say "Look !! You just smiled ! I knew you could do it !"...then there smile is even bigger. It's a great feeling.

I was nice this morning and made my b/f a homemade blueberry pancake.
It made him smile.
I made it for him cause it's our monthly celebration of being together.We've done this going on 3yrs now.
He even played a happy month anniversay to me this morning.
