On August 1st, Switzerland celebrates its birthday.

Any ideas, how to or where to celebrate this day?

I think each Kanton has its own celebrations.

I am looking for inspiration where it is best and where it is worst.

The people in Basel start to celebrate on 31st July.

My small cow-town village has the BEST 1st August celebrations!

The Gemeinde organises a huge bonfire on the Knall overlooking the village ..... but before that everyone gathers at the Gemeinde building to drink beers/wines, and bbq, and listen to the Gemeinde president welcoming all the kids that have turned 18 this year ..... the choirs sing ..... then a band plays for dancing..... and the new "citizens" who`ve just turned 18 are given a party in the cellar with free wine and beers (they are now elligible!) .. and free food.

A local wine farmer does the pyrotechnic display at 11pm,.... and this year he hired a live Rock`n Roll band to play the music! and everyone partied till about 4am .......grin

All this racket disturbed the cows and sheep ... so we had clanging cow and sheep bells added to the noise!

No.
I am not like that Guy and the Pith-Helmet!rolling on the floor laughing

For some reason, I`m reminded of an ancient "joke" ... about the guy going big-game hunting, and he`s handed a hat thing and told this is your "Pith helmet". "My Pith helmet?" he asks. "Yes - every hunter/camper has one." says the young lady dishing out the camping equipment.
"Oh, okay, thankth Mith" says he and walks out with it...... wow rolling on the floor laughing
