I can understand if a man feels uncomptable about where he stands with the kids.

I think you can turn that the other way round... The guys also have children, and you can betcha they are very concerned about their children, and finding some time with another who has children is very very hard.. rose

It wouldn't be easy for anyone, especially if the children's father is still on the scene confused

Ok this one I can speak from experience. 4 times married kids in the first were mine the rest step kids. I found that I was far more accepting of their kids than the other way around. The last lot I still have regular contact with and am granddad to their kids no question from anyone.
For me the kids are part of the person I loved and part of the package deal. I was not a first timer so I could not expect a woman to be.
Having said that, I tend to adopt kids and they me all the time lol. Case in point SXC's daughter regards me as a sort of granddad and ask Hatpins kids lol.

Yes very true, but most mothers have the kids with them, but not the fathers, only access,so the man has a fair bit of freedom, do they really want someone who has kids, does it make them hesitant?

i see my kids 5 days out of 14, finding time to be with someone else who always has their kids is difficult unless your weekends align.
If the kids have regular contact, there's is no chance of moving to your new partners home if it's a long distance from your ex unless your ex is willing to forgo regular contact with his kids. I know I wouldn't be willing to go without the regular contact with my kids so it's a local lassie or nobody.

No I dont think men are wary of ladies with children, nor do I think ladies are wary of men with children. There are of course people who just arent interested ... but I do believe that most adults are accepting of the fact that their future partner will most likely have kids.

I guess it comes back to the comfort zones of each individual. For me, no one meets my kid until Im sure that Im in a committed relationship, and I have no intention of subjecting myself on someones kids until Im sure Im in a committed relationship. But thats me.

I think your way is the best especially for the kids.My kids have seen me go through some upsetting times, They comfort me, who else can you turn too. I don't know weather that is good or bad, but i surpose it prepares them, for there is heart ache in this world. I don't really know if i've done the wrong thing by them seeing me upset.

There are people who say outright in their profile that they've been through the kid thing and are now having me time so if you have kids forget it, move on to the next profile. They are hot too crying

Kids need to be kids, adults need to share adult problems with other adults, these forums are a good place to share them.idea

I totally agree with you, i think i'm best to wait untill they have flown the coup, i think it makes things too complicated.

Its difficult to explain, I kept Short out of the dating picture for so long. I certainly dont regret that at all. In my dating life Short has had to go through one breakup where the person had become a fixture in our house. It was very upsetting in so far as Short was attached to the person too, and then doubly upset because I was so upset.

After that, I decided that I'd go back to my rule of no date meets the kid until they are ready play serious... or the kid is to old to care. Having said all that, I think that kids do manage to bounce back much better than we give them credit for.
