montecito: Thanks Conrad. The news yesterday said it is going to be a monster.
You'd never know it's on it's way with the weather I'm having today. It's absolutely beautiful here. I guess it's the lull before the storm
I had the dubious "Pleasure" to sit through Hurricane Floyd in '99! Seems this one is every bit as bad,and seems to follow a slightly more westerly, more dangerous track!!
Lerie2010: I hope you are safe where you live and that there is as little damage as possible and no loss of life ... good luck and batten down the hatches
I should be okay but if they say my area should get out due to flooding I can't even drive because of my foot surgery. I guess that's when you make an executive decision...to drive or drown...

From the sounds of it, the storm will be downgraded to tropical status when it hits NH.
Keeping us from going to the family camp in northern NH. Need to cut some firewood up there and do some work on the road

Not to contradict you Ray but that's what management is saying, that people will think it will be downgraded (as so often happens) and they aren't following evacuation rules.
I don't have any food on hand that doesn't need to be cooked so in preparation I'll cook a few things today cause the last thing I want to do is lose weight......that's a joke....

I sat threw "Frederic" when it hit the Gulf coast....a minor storm compared to many...but was enough for me as well...
I have a niece in Virgina Beach and is wondering if she should tough it out....

take a load of painkillers and drive girl ... pain couldn't be worse than drowning

Is there no one that can help you monte?
You don't sound like you are in a very safe spot right now.
I'd drive down there, but the storm would be over by the time I got there.
Lerie2010: take a load of painkillers and drive girl ... pain couldn't be worse than drowning
Pain isn't the problem Lerie. I have to wear this shoe to keep my toes straight while they heal. This shoe is cumbersome and it would be dangerous to drive with it. I will make an executive decision if I should wear an open toe sandal and drive to safety but I don't think I'll have to do that. If the flooding is a problem and if mandated evacuation is a must I will definitely get out...
