Crystal29: I have one big regret in life....and that is that i have never seen Gilbert O'Sullivan live....

I saw him live in London, probably about 25 years ago. It was funny - this guy came on stage in a flat cap and tweed jacket and we all thought it was him and clapped. He sat down at the piano, about to play, then got up and walked off stage and the real Gilbert came on - looking different from what he used to. I like alone again naturally.

Gilbert O'sullivan - Alone Again Naturally"

In a little while from now,
If I'm not feeling any less sour,
I promised myself, to treat myself,
And visit a nearby tower ..........
And climbing to the top,
will throw myself off,
In an effort to, make clear to whoever,
What it's like when you're shattered .......
Left standing in the lurch,
At a church where people saying .....
My God, that's tough, she stood him up,
No point in us remaining .......
May as well go home,
As I did on my own,
Alone again, naturally.
To think that only yesterday,
I was cheerful, bright and gay.
Looking forward to-
Who wouldnt do- the role I was about to play.
but, as if to knock me down,
Reality came around,
And without so much as a mere touch,
Cut me into little pieces.
Leaving me to doubt, Talk about God and His mercy,
Who, if He really does exist,
Why did He desert me?
And in my hour of need,
I truely am, indeed,
Alone again, naturally.
It seems to me that there are more hearts,
Broken in the world that cant be mended,
Left unattended, what do we do?
What do we do?
Looking back over the years,
And whatever else that appears.
I remember I cried when my father died,
Never wishing to hide the tears.
And at sixty-five years old,
My mother, God rest her soul,
Couldnt understand why the only man,
She had ever loved had been taken.
Leaving her to start, with a heart so badly broken,
Despite encouragement from me,
No words were ever spoken.
And when she passed away,
I cried and cried all day,
Alone again, naturally .....
Alone again ................................. naturally

Yes BBC4 sometimes has the stars from the past. Your nearest venue for him is Newcastle, but that wouldn't take that long would it?

I don't know about my biggest regret but I do regret not putting more time into myself, more studying, gaining more qualifications when I was a single mum with young kids.

I think it is one of those 'with the benefit of hindsight' sort of things, in truth, my head wasn't in the right place, my ex husband gave me a hard time for years.

But, I don't dwell on it, can't turn the clock back and all that stuff??

I don't think about it everyday and don't get depressed about it, I think of the positive things I have in my life, and hey, this morning I woke up and sucked in some air! Yeeeeah I am still alive, anything else is a bonus eh?

peace cheering applause banana

Regrets... hmmm I have none. for the choices I have made have made me into the person I am today.. banana doh grin

Yes, I could have made other choices.. but I also believe that if we want or desire something enough we shall make it happen for us.. (law abiding of course mumbling ).. We are who we are.. peace

Also, Crystal, as Wow has pointed out, you can see G.O. with the Toon army.. but there are other dates here and you could make it a London weekend.. see:

Though I have found a fitting track.. head banger

Nah it wouldnt...I guess I could drive to Newcastle in a couple of hours...the only issue there is that I could be snowed in here on the date he is playing (late Nov)...if our Scottish winter is anything like last year sigh

Hi Yash .... wave
Hmmm the London option is worth considering....depending on hotel/flight prices etc....could get expensive at an already expensive time of year....I wonder why he doesnt do Scotland? conversing

No one should ever have regrets about anything....no matter what happens.......decisions are made based on the information available at the time.....afterwards it is easy to wish you hadn't done something or said something. That's life...move on....life is what is about to happen...not what happened last year or whatever!
