You receive an e-mail from a handsome man, who seems nice judging by what he writes. if he lived locally you wouldn't mind getting to know him better but he lives too far away for any real prospects. Do you correspond with him and keep him as an online friend or make it clear at the outset that you're not willing to relocate and ask where he sees things going?

For me a handful of cyber penpals is enough so I no longer respond to anyone from overseas unless they are forums regs.

Can't imagine relocating as most, including myself, aren't in a position to spend thousands of dollars on a first meeting, let alone flit back and forth while attempting to build a relationship.

If you put "not willing to relocate" in your profile it might help with those awkward initial emails.

i've lived abroad and am now happily settled in my country. I've had one long distance relationship where we spent four months chatting before we met and then it didn't work out. I wouldn't do it again. It's nice to have somebody local to go out with. Long-distance is not for me.

The meeting place they picked is notorious for parking problems. it's practically impossible to park there and public transport in Malta is not an option. So how have you been chris ?

I will even considerate going in a "red light district" if my school mates arranged,in such location our annual meeting, never mind a notorious one finding parking.Besides myself when in Athens i hate driving,so i use taxis for moving around. How have i been???When i say best, nobody believes me.-

I get more email from out of country than in..And I now have email buddies on several continents..Even though chances are slim to none that we will ever meet I will continue chatting and emailing with them and anyone else...You just never know what can happen...

I think you might credit the fellow's intelligence a bit more. After all, if he emailed you, he's undoubtedly already noticed that you two are on different continents. You've nothing to lose by continuing the conversation. So you're not willing to relocate? Perhaps he is. "Handsome is, as handsome does," it's said, so you might as well find out.

Relax and enjoy the conversations; it's not like getting e-mails from Epsilon Eridanus and he's not telling you that he'll send his saucer around to pick you up.....laugh
