RayfromUSA: I agree with most of that, except for where you say America is on her knees. She should be on her knees but she isn't. Not yet anyway.
Her economy is in shambles, she has practically no manufacturing base and precious few exports. She's living on credit from China and China doesn't have any interest in letting that situation continue.

Every day the US debt goes up. And yet Americans act as though they can somehow just decide not to have a depression, as though it was only a state of mind or something.

What American leaders plan to do is to impose totalitarian rule and force extreme austerity on the nation (and I do mean extreme) and it won't be just temporary. America's debt is so big that in a few years the entire GDP won't be able to keep up with the interest.

RayfromUSA: No, we're all pretty much conspired against equally.
It's just that some people more aware of what's happening than others.

It's inversely proportional to how much television people watch.

Choo-hoo!!! At last I’m equal in something! cheering

My TV usually shows me snow when I care to turn it on… Wondering whose conspiracy it could be…

Uvita: Totally agree. Besides, saying "Europe", americans often forget that they mean many countries with different languages, history and mentality, and to bring them all into one scope is a mistake. Talking about WW2, I would suggest to the author of this thread to compare soviet and american school text books in history .. it is very interesting that the "dectatorship" and the "democracy" have a very similar way to estimate their role in the victory ;) But talking in numbers, the USA have lost 418 000 people, and the USSR - 26 600 000 ... so lack of men is felt even now ))) feel the difference.
and Stalin, being no Slouch showed how it's done when he Collectivized the Farms!
So it's a small wonder he fought the war the way he did!

Uvita: yes .. between 1917 and 1951 .. the best ones have been lost .. :-(
That's the problem with Russian leaders, all they know is to kill their own people and chained them.

Tulefel: No doubt. USSR lacked professional military staff in the beginning of WWII, due to Stalin’s and his apes’ reprisals, and that caused to a high degree the losses in the first part of the war.

Though military losses are estimated to be 9-11 millions. The rest (of more than 26 millions) are civil. Germans did indeed execute civil population.

My family lost as many people due to the reds as to the browns. From that point of view there’s no difference between these two.
You totally right, the germans forces killed more civilians in Russia than military personnel.

USSR history has got its share of very black, or righter bloody, pages; even chapters. What Stalin and his apologists did was, and still is – as there never been any proper closure, which turns me into biting mode every time I think about it – a crime. It still is an open wound. For some…

As to the others… luuuv Canadian Black&Mail because they allow readers’ comments after almost every article. There wasn’t a week without commentators gearing into discussion of Stalin’s reprisals, never mind the subject of the article. Do they get hard-on or some such on someone else’s pain? Why do they care in the first place? (Rhetorical.)

And not only them it looks like.
