Go to college. The hard to live part will go away sooner than it will if you don't learn something more rewarding.

Just wondering where you are planning to go make some money .. do you mean in Aus/NZ?
Just be careful if that's the case and do your employment research thoroughly as this country is going through extremely tough economic times just like anywhere else.
Unemployment is rife and the cost of living is through the roof.

I think you made your mind up before you asked the question.
While a qualification like plumbing will ensure you have work in Australia, you have to remember you need something to fall back onto. At the end of the day, you have to do what you feel is right for you.
