Once upon a time there were three brothres: Danceolic, Anabolic and Melancholic… They diluted figs with vodka, which effortlessly and significantly increased the amount of figs… (Oh, that’s a wonderful recipe, isn’t it?)

Indeed you do have imagination Tat!

Any thing that ends with “olic” I am out because I was married for 24 yr with one great and wonderful person but he was a workaholic and a cheater as well. He was always too busy and tired for family matters not to say for couple matters.

What I mean is:

dancing = someone who likes to dance.
flex = someone who is fit and loves to do exercise.
violin = someone who enjoys classical music....

That is not too much to ask for.

moping

For the vodka I pass what I would enjoy is just table wine mostly at dinner time.

Sorry Venere for the
hijack

Tuly made me to.

Dear Tule, she does indeed have a wonderful imagination and the cutest way of expressing herself.laugh

Yes, table wine with a meal, red for me is just nice. And oh, a man who loves to dance...reunion

Let me tango back to figsgrin...

There was a cooking program today on television at the neighbour's home. Guess what was one key ingredient? Yeppers, figs!...

A simple focaccia bread roll cut lengthwise in half. On one side place thin slices of prosciutto, on the other, fresh, halved figs, the ruby red flesh up, drizzle olive oil over figs, add fresh, chopped basil, fresh rucolo(my neighbour's addition; a type of horseradish flavour, grows wild in gardens including mine). Fold over and cut into portions. A tasty snack, one I must try soon.

wave wave

I eat bread 2 times per week (one slice of very thin kind of rye crisp, 35 kcal a piece). And whine contains a lot of calories, as well as figs. I’ve got to keep to chopped basil for the most…sigh

Or choose whine and figs with a whole Basil afterwards… just for burning calories.

I haen't eaten bread for ages. Would love to though!!sigh ..I do love rye, and really yummy grain bread, oh and wood oven bread ...except that it doesn't like me. So, like anything or any one that doesn't like me, I stay away.laugh

Figs are a very recent introduction, only because I have several trees and it's so nice to pick them right off the tree, but they are tiny ones. Tomorrow I'm going on a 4km walk to burn it off. Instructions I've been given: (it's ok for me to hijack my own thread!lol)...

at the bottom of the hill, turn right. after 200m, turn left at a little street til you come to another intersection. Then turn right then left. Go straight for 200m til you get to a house being restored, then turn right and go about 300m. Ta da!!...I'm supposed to be 'there'.laugh

As for wine(whining uses calories, too!wink)...red wine is full of anti-aging resveratrol, so 100ml is welcome wine...Only sweet wine such as German spatlese has lots of calories. In fact, a glass of wine is included in Italian weight reducing diets.(oh, and so is pasta and pizza depending on your blood type!uh oh)

I used to make my own bread but now I have an electrical bread machine that makes it in 2:30 hours -more o less depending on the recipe-
I just have to place the ingredients in it.

grin

I used to bake it but to heat the oven for just one loaf of bread is such a waste of energy.

Calories I do not count them just eat healthful and do some exercise. Pasta and wine are included in my diet most every day but I always include protein in my diet and lots of fruits.

In fact I am going to have dinner in a moment.

Pasta al pesto with Squid to the herbs aside and a glass of wine (semidry).

Bon appetito...sounds delicious!

I agree...hate counting calories. Portion sizes, and mix of healthy, balanced meals with some treats thrown in now and again...makes living worthwhilecheering

Here, there seems to be one size pizza fits all...LARGE!!

If only I were a fig…
I would be a useless fig,
Just hanging there on the three
And never fall down to Thee.

venere08: The fig trees are full of fruit, plenty already on the ground, some yet to ripen...I love fig jam and the idea of making my own fresh batch is too much to resist. My neighbour says she's never made her own, so I'm wondering if anyone has a tried and tested recipe, something simple and one without sugar as I figure there is plenty in the fruit.

Oh, and any ideas for what to do with the fig leaves? Seems such a waste. ...Also, other fig recipes all very welcome. Ta!

Colour them with dyes, string them with tiny pearls and market them as 'G strings' for the fashionably unconscious.(stamp one side "Ralph Lauren" !) Next project is doing away with zippers on men's pants, replacing them with miniature venetian blinds...a long overdue exposure of fashions for the spiritually warped...laugh
