Within Temptation Aby...darn, darn excellent! First see for me!

It is almost a requirement now for all Musicians to play Piano, whether drummer or base guitarists. Many songs are first written on Piano.

Brilliant rendition of that song, John. Doesn't that song make you wonder what the story was behind it? I have heard songwriters say they have no desire to tell the story behind the song, they would prefer to leave it to the individuals interpretation... and often we are left with a lot of interpretations because of that.

Lately because of my fairly recent discovery of the artist... When I think of the piano... I think of this lady. ( Explains why I own so many of her CD's)

Lady Gaga was a childhood prodigy piano player. She began playing as a toddler…a born genius on the keyboard. I wish that she would have kept to it rather than some of the things she has done recently.

I don't like watching Gaga perform, rather like I can't watch Amy Winehouse, but ... their voices are magic. So I listen without watching them.

I can remember the first time I heard Shawn Mullins and I was mesmerised by the simplicity of his music and lyrics... they held a lot of appeal for me.

This song is a great example of how Musicians change over the years and where the greater music is going. Notice how John’s band changed over the years and he now has classical musicians to back him up...

Good Day John,

I listened to both versions. I prefer the original for his voice, and the rawness of it. However, the music in the second one is interesting. I haven't heard anything of him in concert recently and I am surprised at how his voice has changed over time. So thank you for sharing those videos with me. I like John Mellencamp.

So tell me, John... What ever happened to Prince?

John Cougar Mellencamp had a recent heart attack from smoking too much. This is his first new concert event after he almost lost his life. His Son helped him to recuperate. John doesn’t smoke anymore. The words he wrote on this new live song explains what he went through:

The most recent that I can find from Prince is 2009. Not as good as before. "I want to hear a Prince that’s running for his life. 3121 reminded me of his power but with the extra attention he got lazy again". Prince needs a ...fill in the blanks. This is much better:

johnaustin123: Cool song Abagail and nice new posted pic!

Some Bands are perennial artists and cross every new generation. For them, the song that they wrote is always renewed. This song is very much popular again today because generation’s old and young love to dance…at the very least in their minds. This song is again in the top ten:

This post @Times have changed@ has really taken me back.
I remember 8 tracks record players and 45's for 99 cents.
Sometimes the B side tune would turn out to be
your favourite.

Yes I loved the old the old Juke boxes and the mini ones on each table.

I teach so I often use Youtube on my smartboard. Rightnow we are doing
Christmas songs so I put on Wham! - Last Christmas

My Greek student sing along they love al the snow.
This year I found last christmas remix (with the penwind dancing to Last Christmas.

I will have to return to this post often to learn more about music and
listen to more.
Thanks
Carol

Hello Carol,

Thanks for joining the fray. I am not familiar with 8 tracks, although I do understand what they were, mostly because I have read about them. I do remember boom boxes and I recall when CD players came out and I thought they were silly, it was too easy to scratch a CD--They couldn't possibly last. Now I literally own hundreds of them.

My computer technician was telling me a week or so ago that he actually owns a jukebox. He bought one for his garage and his friends love going over to visit him. Can you imagine having one these days? I used to love going to the pub after work, catching up with friends and listening to a few tunes on the Jukebox.

Thanks for sharing some music.

A.
