Cheech & Chong ~ Santa Claus And His Old Lady

"Some reindeers, y'know. He used ta hook them onto da sled, and then he used ta stand up inside da sled and hold on to da reins, and then call out their names, like, On, Donner! On, Blitzen! On, Chewy! On, Tavo! C'mon, Becto! And then, the reindeers used ta take off into da sky and fly across da sky, man!"

I like the new reindeer names. laugh

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.

This is a bit of my Politics and how Music can influence the many. This song was originally written by George Harrison from The Beatles. It’s timely today:

Again, work hard for your money and save/hide...don't let the lazy take it away from you. The Federal Reserve and the IRS should not be abolished, but rather minimized. The US is a Capitalist Nation and it should stay that way. Give the power to the States to make their own local decisions. Minimize Federal Government in the role that they should be...an overseer that should only step in with regulations in an emergency.

Wouldn't giving power to the states lead to segregation and confusion, John? The US has many states and if they were to all rule separately on their own agendas?

Cute song, by the way, but it simplifies it somewhat , doesn't it?smile

The power is in local Government, not the Federal...look at it this way...let’s say you live in Texas and you have made enough money and you have earned much land that you can afford. Texas is a State in the US. You may have to protect the land you own by fire power to keep the Federal Government and intruders away from your personal affairs...even if you decide to grow Marijuana. Taxes should be paid to your local States and Municipalities because the Federal Government lacks the overall ability and can't finance to protect land in the US.

The US States are very much like Countries...to each their own to survive hardships. The United States has hard borders between Canada and Mexico. Each State has the responsibility to protect their own borders.

I envy Australia because your borders are the Oceans...very private.

I enjoyed the song, thank you.

Some of your states are rather clustered together. So while you use Texas as an example, I am not sure that is a brilliant one. AND without a doubt they want to be their own country. I loved Texas. The problem is you need to work together, and it's terribly segregated now... so I am not sure how anyone could achieve that. What is amazing always is in the face of adversity Americans pull together and that is quite magic to watch.

While we banter in Australia between the states, we do work rather well together...

thumbs up Aby

It starts very local in the neighborhood that you live in. We pay our property taxes to our locality to provide local law authorities to serve and protect us and to make sure that our highways are safe. Some tax money moves on to the counties or parishes for the courts to operate efficiently and prosecute criminals. It moves on to the State level that provides a national guard or militia to protect the State borders from intrusion. Lastly, tax money moves on to the Federal Government which provides protection from a threat by foreign countries to our borders or to fight wars if needed.

This is a simple explanation. Many other details are involved.

So your federal taxes pay for similar things as ours do... social security, health, education, defence, industry , government services, culture, infrastructure, transport, energy etc.

Obviously states also pay for infrastructure, but mostly that which is pertinent to their area... rail, bus , tram etc. Each state looking out for it's unique interests.

And within a shire, you pay land taxes etc.

Seems like it's a very similar set up... the difference being that in comparison to most countries... we are sparsely populated.

It seems we are back to the political motivations behind music again, John. smile

Correct Aby! The USA and Australia have the same infrastructure. The United States is densely populated in rural areas also…so much land unoccupied…many Nature Parks are owned by the Government. Some land, like in Alaska, has oil reserves below the surface that could be drilled for oil. Environmentalists fight about this with big oil companies. Economics or Environment?

Obviously she loved it... almost as much as I did I believe. The stage show was brilliant. The music ... well in my opinion, it's brilliant.

This is a brand new Beatles tribute band…performing on Broadway in New York City, USA. We know about the Across The Universe movie and how they imitated The Beatles also.

What modern cover bands do is to imitate greater bands than they are instead of making their own original Music...they know that they can make copyrighted Money:

Rain - A Tribute to the Beatles on Broadway

{brand new this week:

Paul McCartney Live Helsinki 12.12.2011 Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End

This isn't the best video that I've seen from the past but it shows how times have changed...

I finally downloaded it when I had a nap , John. laugh This slow internet connection has bells on it. I napped after work... Christmas parties mid week are deadly to my sleep needs. laugh But... apparently... I can survive without sleep grin

Thank you for sharing the music. I love watching live music, but ... I must say I enjoy intimate venues rather than major concerts.

Music keeps moving on because the younger Generations are influenced by the older ones.

"I'm Jennifer Espinoza and I was singing with Big Brother and The Holding Company, Janis Joplin's Original band. Janis and Big Brother and the Holding Company recorded Summertime for their Columbia album Cheap Thrills. The album was released in late 1968. Back in those days, much live music was iffy. I like to watch videos of live stuff, but to prefer original studio versions when listening.

This is another live version from Janis. I should have posted this song instead. bouquet

Life is a cycle that we all go through. The old sometimes comes back as the new in music. Long hair short hair, it cycles around from each Generation to make a statement of Freedom.
