Dental treatment- PRSI Allowance (7)

Oct 10, 2011 12:55 PM CST Dental treatment- PRSI Allowance
Right I know its nothing like it used to be but are people still allowed relief from visits to the Dentist ?. I reckon I've spent about 500 in the last 3 months and the assistant at the health centre I'm attending has "forgotten" to see if I'm allowed anything on my last 2 visits. Due my last visit this weekend and the white filling is costing 125 ......should I get in touch with the PRSI people myself and if so who do I contact ?. Thanking you lovely people in advance for all the lovely replies below laugh

I got a few fillings during the summer and the dentist told me that the dental check was free but i would have to pay for any work done. I got the white filling done for €80, your dentist seems expensive.

From my knowledge you're still entitled to 1 clean and polish per yr on your PRSI but that seems to vary from dentist to dentist tbh.

Hmmmm I got charged for the initial check up and the Polishing too. That would halve the cost of the filling this weekend if I can claim for both. The Dentist I used to go to Stillorgan Shopping Centre charges 160 for a white filling. That's why I don't go there anymorelaugh

Thanks peeps

the PRSI benefit has been scaled back massively, but depending on the treatment you have done you may be able to claim it back on tax relief along with other medical expenses, try
