Personally don't believe we should have one...our "Premier" should be enough to fullfil the ambassador role as well as what they're supposed to be doing.

i voted mcguinness, i think the president has an important role, the taoiseach has his own job to lead the government while the president does the ceremonial role, and also as seen with the last two especially mary robinson can enhance our image abroad

I agree that we shouldnt have one and for the first time in my life I was considering not voting, if you knew how strongly I feel about everyone exercising their right to vote you would know how big a deal that is lol, however when Mc Guinness became a candidate there was no way I wasnt going to vote for someone else, not sure who yet lol.
While I agree with the sentiments that we don't need a president. I think if we do have to have one then Michael D is the stand out choice. With the other 6 muppets it's just a question of the scale of their awfulness.
Understand what you're saying and agree the two Mary's have been good representation for us...but almost every other country seem to manage alright with just the one
God, I know i'm bored outta my bin when i'm on a political thread no disrespect Jimbo

He is a raging alco!, i met him in galway afew times and most of the time he was twisted
jimbo79: gallagher has surprised me, i thought he an early elimination but he is a real contender now
Ah yeah,, he talks sensible talk and doesnt think we are impressed by quoting JAMES JO"I"YCE in that horrible fake english accent like that freak Norris,, can't believe two people have voted for that thing in the pole,, and that is not a homophobic comment Scriobh before you start on me..

im glad norris got the chance to run, otherwise it would always have been said that the rightful president was left out, he is an awful egit, no way in touch with the people
Green_Sleeves: Out of that bunch? I'd go with Norris, my reason, well I find him to be an incredibly articulate, respectful, intelligent, noble and lively man.

I was at the county final last week here , great game ,, them Athy forwards are brilliant to watch and hopefully get a couple for the county team,, great day out,, all normal decent people like you get at sporting occasions,, could you imagine decent sportsmen or women having to shake that Norris yolks hands before they play a rugby or football match.. like what would visiting teams and supporters think of our country,, HI "GUYS" I'M THE PRESIDENT

i heard there was great celebrations after too in the club house, they ran out of vodka at 5 in the morning
it would be an international joke with norris at as president

And the fact he was still claiming disability money while a senator doesn't bother you?
theredguy: He is a raging alco!, i met him in galway afew times and most of the time he was twisted
He doesn't really drink much any more. I met him at a social function and he certainly wasn't twisted. Whether or not the man takes a drink is besides the point and it's scurrilous for you to bring it up.

His integrity and his record. Sure his membership of the Labour Party has meant he has had to take party lines occasionally that I would disagree with, but his record on human rights is there for all to see by contrast his opponents are
2 far-right Catholic fundamentalists from Derry (One who has been pivotal in recent years in privatising public services and also in putting the parasitic scum of the DUP into government.)
A man who has a lot going for him, but is tainted by poor judgement and most crucially the fact he claimed benefit while a seantor.
A multi-millionaire TV personality who is a FFr in all but name.
A pompous fool who encapsulates all the worst aspects of the blueshirts
A dull as dishwater Cardboard cutout who has nothing more to say for herself than "I organised the special olympics"
So yeah, next to that lot, it's hard to not look good.
I can't fathom why any left winger outside of Sinn Féin would vote for McGuinness. Not only is he as bad as any FFr down here he's probably more conservative than most.
