ohnuts1: yes, i used to live in the uk so it was very cheap to go to these places, ive done spain and most of the greek islands, but when i went i done the real places not the tourist part never saw the point of hanging around doing what you could do in your own country like to see how the real people live

Agreed. I went to see the superficial side of the US many years ago... I saw Universal Studios, Disneyland, Hollywood, San Diego Seaword ... Fortunately I also went to see the Grand Canyon , Walnut Canyon, National Sequoia Park...However, I fell in love with Texas, when I returned a few years ago. I hired a car and simply drove through small country towns. When I returned later that year with my daughter, we went to Yellowstone ( as I mentioned) and Mt Worth... Traveling certainly opens our minds up.

I want to travel around Europe I'm looking at doing that in the next year or so. Can't wait

Wouldn't mind to see Texas they also hold the Miniature horse events last I heard was still in Texas, it goes for 9 days and nights. Up to two thousand entries enter the best only get accepted meaning the horse has to have won some exhibits champ / supreme wins prior to this show.

Europe sounds appealing to me too. If I could slow down enough in my life I need to sit and start a savings plan. I have been asked to join quite a few different people over time and my work commitments have stopped me. I would love to see Germany, Scotland, Switzerland... For the moment though, it's a pipe dream.

laugh That's too funny. I had no idea that anyone would go there anticipating excitement. Perhaps the occasional drug bust or police chase.

Not so much a destination, but I have participated in a couple of Great Victorian Bike rides and one Great Tassie bike ride back in the 90's.

You get to camp out on local town football fields, travel the backroads generally to your next campsite and then get to set up camp again that night.

You are part of a traveling small city on wheels.

The cameraderie is fantastic, you can eat as much as you want (coz you burn it off the next day) and get to see some wonderful countryside off the main roads that you wouldnt normally see.

I also got to ride along the Great Ocean Road with no traffic as they closed the road. Fantastic experience!
