I think you were lucky to found alive and well. It could have very easily gone the other way. This might sound strange but it may be scary to write but you should also be happy to be around to be able to write it
Is it common in new zealand, of course i suppose the airport bins are warm and dry , probably quite cosy? And they don't fly, quite a few things fly over there, but not the bins.
