A little trivia--I worked for many years with a nurse from France. He and I loved to talk French Revolution and the history of the Hapsburgs and Bourbans. A double-entendre was perhaps not foreseen, and whether or not Marie Antoinette actually said the fateful words is not a decided historical fact. However, the people were so incensed with her they readily believed the quote, and here's the rub, according to my French friend: "Gateau" means 'cake', but it also means the burnt charred pieces sticking to the oven walls and floor, which is where English-speaking countries get the term "It was CAKED on". So, the people not only believed poor Marie said it, they believed she was saying, "Let them eat burnt oven-drippings".

For me, Carol Burnett comes to mind. She used her brilliant sense of humor to bring laughter to many faces and continues to do so.

Princess Diana was another great woman whom I have always admired for her grace and humanitarian accomplishments. RIPpeace

Either way the result would it have been the same grin

Yes. Oh poor Marie. I have always had a place in my heart for her--so misunderstood. She did have a charitable side--this often gets dismissed or forgotten.
