Pretty much did it once. Took a job overseas because of the pay. BUT, first it took about $35,000 from the employer to cover all the paperwork, medical exams (even my eyes!), etc, and I had to prove that I had skills that no one in their country had, since they don't want you taking a job from a local. Had to learn their rules, and to understand THEM when they spoke.
Wish the US could use the same rules, and have as much control. That country was surrounded by water, so illegal immigrants couldn't just walk to it. HAD to go through customs etc, with the proper paperwork, just to clear the airport.

If you do it legally then great. If I was offered a job in another country that would improve my life and my children's then I would take it. banana banana banana

You could also step up and try to make life better for yourself and as many other people as you can in your own country.

As far as emigrating...

Bring us your trouble masses. Just don't jump the fence.

I think it's great, and if you can do it legally that's even better. If you can't do it legally, and it's still what's best for your family, do it illegally. Jump a fence, swim a river...hell parachute in if you have too. Your right to try to provide the best life you can for your family far exceeds any right I have to maintain my advantage of being born into a geographically superior location.

So true Ocee.

To bad the whole world isn't just one big country. Then there wouldn't be an such thing as immigration. The whole problem stems from drawing superficial lines in the sand in the first place.

Will the world every live as one?

Interesting question.

what a great idea. then i wouldnt get sick to my stomach every eyar waiting for my work permit to go thru or, like happened 2 years ago, have it NOT go thru & have to leave the country. hey, but that got me to scotland, so not a bad result.

if the world were one big country, i wonder how high the taxes would be, tho.

In truth it's not the borders that are the problem. It's the world leaders of the individual countries.

Also over population plays a major role. Even if the world were one big country it wouldn't help if people in places that lack resources continue to overpopulate those places prolifically. Then you end up in a high tax situation where the people who are well-off end up having to pay to support the poor overpopulated areas. It really all boils down to overpopulation in poor areas really, and a lack of governments to help those areas to become more self-sufficient. Far too many governments are corrupt and spend the tax payers monies on everything except what it was intended for.

There are no simple solutions. In fact, without cooperation and genuine sincere intent on the part of world leaders there are so solutions at all.

Also, how do you curb over population in a supposedly free world? That's an extremely touchy topic.

When I run out of money I emigrate BACK to the UK.

Otherwise, I love to turn the lights out when I leave!

LOL as if the whole concept of providing for your family revolves around location. And a lot of people would consider Mexico a superior graphic location regarding climate, so how about we just send a few million Americans down there to soak up everything they have and over burden their systems? Think they wouldn’t complain? If so, you are seriously kidding yourself. The US is not really geographically superior, only technologically and financially (depending on how you interpret things). And just as you aren’t going to like someone stealing half your paycheck, most don’t like illegals coming here to steal from the country.
“Will the world every live as one?”
Not as long as you have religions dividing them. Seems to me that religions divide people more than oceans.

"LOL as if the whole concept of providing for your family revolves around location."

The whole concept?...not the whole concept, but available resources do play a large role. It's a little tricky to make steel, food, and lumber out of sand.

"And a lot of people would consider Mexico a superior graphic location regarding climate"

Maybe for vacationing, but I doubt that type of heat helps productivity.

"so how about we just send a few million Americans down there to soak up everything they have and over burden their systems"

Yes, I would hate to sacrifice my second car and the TV in my bedroom so some "foreigner" could feed his kids.

"Think they wouldn’t complain? If so, you are seriously kidding yourself."

I think many would complain, just like many here do. The only difference between "us" and "them" is location.

"The US is not really geographically superior, only technologically and financially"

How do you think we gained this position? Do you really think we are in someway superior to them or could it be that we had better resources to work with?

"And just as you aren’t going to like someone stealing half your paycheck"

The underlying basis of this statement is too provincial to bother with.(too much ground to cover here)

"most don’t like illegals coming here to steal from the country."

Most people like driving gas guzzlers with the AC blasting, that doesn't make them right.
