Yeah pay it off and get rid of it. The best way to be now is to have no debts owed to anyone.

going good Gal , hope you are to . I had the interest rate of 18 % , others had rates of mid twentys during the 80's . Many people were hurt back then , alot of farmers killed themselves . I new one , a good man and a good farmer as well . Debt after that puts an edge on ones mind . Warp's the crap out of you . Pay the mortgage off if you can , never know whats round the corner .

Yeah, I would like to pay off my mortgage as I am tired to paying all the interest to the bank. Just a few more years for me; thank goodness.

Is the interest deductable on your tax return up in Canada? Also if you don't mind my asking, what interest rate are you paying?

hi ooby dooby, 4.2% interest on a five year fixed. but you can get better right now, mine is from last year when i renewed mine. and no....no interest deductable on my taxes.

No, the interest rate is not deductible. I was paying 5 to 6 percent interest but now paying 3 percent upon renewal this year.
