It could be that the person who bought the coat from Goodwill won't even think to cut open the lining. $13,000 dollars should be quite bulky and I would think it should draw his attention.

I don't understand why someone would be so careless as to sew money in the lining of clothing in the first place.

Elderly people in our day and age don’t stand a chance against the younger thieves who take advantage of us. I went out early today to shop. I knew right away that my car had been broken into. I’ve always kept a bag of coins on my dashboard that I accumulate change from errands. This is their trademark:

They break into the passenger door, steal what they can get, and leave the door open while they escape.

In September, they crawled under my car and hack sawed my catalytic converter off to sell as a spare part. It cost me $400 out of pocket. If I ever catch them…

Probably the same people who put money in or under their mattress. One guy died, and had something like $550,000 in or under the mattress,

That's normal for some people because they don't trust the Banks or in many cases, they are going to be bankrupted and have to hide their money. They leave it there for a rainy day.

Circle of Life

It seems so very strange
How things seem to change
When you`re a new baby
At first you can`t even see
You need help with everything you do
Mom & Dad are there to take care of you

They bathe you and dress you
Change you and feed you too
They help you to sit and learn to walk
They help with your speech, as you learn to talk
They scrub your nails and comb your hair
When you need them they are always there

They put you in your stroller and push you down the street
They help you as you try to stand on your own two feet
They carry you till you can walk, then they hold your hand
They are there to listen when you need someone to understand
They keep you warm and cover you when you are cold
They continue to care for you as they are growing old

Then your parents grow old and some lose their sight
Some elderly have kidney problems and wet the bed at night
Some can`t get up and go, Like they did when they were young
Isn’t it strange how we sometimes go back to how our life begun
It`s like a circle of life as we age, We sometimes go through
Returning to the way we were, and needing help in all we do

Then when they need someone, where will you be
If their eyes go bad and suddenly they can no longer see
When they are the ones that need help in all they do
Will you be there, Will they be able to depend on you
Will you be there to hold on to them as they try to walk?
Will you listen to their broken speech as they try to talk?

Would you bathe them and dress them too
Would you change them like they changed you?
Would you push them in their wheel chair?
Like they pushed you in your stroller every where
Will you clean their nails and comb their hair
When they need you, Will you be there

Will you care for them, like they cared for you?
Sit up with them like they did you the whole night through
Will you feed them and cover them when they are cold
Will you be there to comfort them as they grow old?
We can never repay our parents for all that they do
But you can be there for them as they were for you

If you think about it, you`ll see what I`m saying is true
Someday you may be elderly, Will someone be there to help you
Isn’t it strange how we sometimes go back to how our life begun
Some can`t get up and go, Like they did when they were young
It`s like a circle of life as we age, We sometimes go through…

doh doh OMG John, that would throw me over the edge. I just came from the mall and made sure I parked under a light. It was also early (7 pm). I'm very careful when walking between cars especially if a big SUV or one of those cars that has a sliding door on the side. I keep change in the car too but I don't leave it where anybody can see it. Hint, Hint....grin

I left a $1 bill in my truck once. Someone busted out the drivers side window for one friggin' dollar.

If he'd knocked on my door, I'd have probably given it to him. doh

(If I remember correctly, it cost me $125 to replace the window)

I understand that principle. Yep, if I thought I was going to lose it all in a lawsuit or someone was after my money, I would seriously consider the mattress route. It's difficult to avoid a bank account entirely, simply because it's much harder to cash a check when people pay by check. So if you receive a check but don't have a bank account, ouch! Then you're at the mercy of the ripoff check cashing places, and they charge outrageous mafia interest rates.

I have my doubts the person who purchased the suit will return the money. sigh moping

When my father passed away, my mom found a roll of bills stuffed into a pole lamp and inside the lining of one of his suit jackets wow

My father left his house to me in his Will. He was notorious for hiding money in the house. At one time he hid $17,000. I searched all over the place to find money I knew had to be there but all I found was $400. The house was built in 1929 and run down because he couldn't take care of it in his old age so the man I sold it to gutted some of the rooms to make it modern. I have no doubt that he probably found a good deal of money. sigh

wave HuggerMan!

If you go to any Attorney for advice, they will always tell us to put only enough of our money in the Bank to pay bills. They say to stash the rest away in cash where it can’t be found or a safe investment that can’t be touched.

This is the difference between a secured and unsecured debt. A secured debt is owed to the creditor and is legally bound by the Court; example… a credit card payment is worthy of Prosecution to us from a Judge. Medical bills are unsecured, so you can mostly get away without paying them and are not prosecuted by Law.
