Ron Paul Tied with Obama and in Two-Man Race with Romney

Poll highlights include Paul having notably strong support across many key voter segments

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul again polls strong against incumbent President Barack Obama in a general election matchup, according to today’s CNN/ORC Poll.

Highlights include Paul besting Obama 49 to 45 percent among persons 65 and older, a voter segment considered to be the most reliable for turnout. Paul also beats Obama among persons 50 to 64 by a 47 to 45 percent margin. Taken together, according to the poll, voters over 50 deliver Paul a clean 48 to 45 percent win over Obama.

When factoring geography and racial background, Paul also carries substantial numbers.

Versus Obama, Paul defeats him 51 to 45 percent in the Midwest, 49 to 45 percent in the South, 61 to 35 percent in rural areas, and ties him at 47 percent in suburban areas. Paul also bests all other Republican candidates among nonwhite voters when matched against Obama, again carrying a solid quarter of those votes, and defeating Obama among white voters 54 to 41 percent, and men 49 to 44 percent.

Among many segments, the numbers of other Republican hopefuls is paltry to Paul’s performance.

CNN’s Political Unit states, “…according to the poll, the president is doing better against two other presidential candidates. If Rick Santorum were the GOP nominee, Obama would hold a 51%-45% advantage over the former senator from Pennsylvania. And if Newt Gingrich faced off against the president, Obama would lead the former House speaker 52-43%.”

The hits keep coming.

Among men, Paul garners more support in the general by a larger margin over Obama than any other candidate. He undercuts Obama’s support among youth the most, winning 40 percent of the 18-34 vote, with Paul’s nearest competitor Romney coming no closer than 35 percent. Paul also garners more from those under 50 than any other Republican. Paul is also at the top – tying Romney – among persons ages 35 to 49.

Perhaps most important in the race for the White House, Paul seizes more support from independents than any other Republican, matching or defeating Obama 46 to 48 percent vis a vis the +/- 5 percent error margin.

Also notable in the survey is that 53 percent of the sample believe that Romney does not “generally agree” with them on issues they care about, and 56 percent feel that Romney is not in touch with the problems ordinary Americans face in their daily lives.

“This poll, as with all the other general election matchup polls, debunks the misconceptions about Ron Paul’s electability. His competitiveness against Obama is far beyond all but one competitor, Mitt Romney, again proving it is appropriate for all other candidates to drop out and unite behind Dr. Paul as the only viable conservative alternative to establishment Romney,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

“This is a clear two-man race and only two can beat Obama. It also begs the question, ‘Which candidate will Republicans choose, status quo Romney or the candidate of authentic change, Ron Paul?’” asked Mr. Benton.

ORC International surveyed 1,021 adult Americans from January 11th to the 12th. The error margin for this total sample is +/- 3.0 percentage points. The sample includes 928 registered voters, with the margin of error for this group also +/- 3.0 percentage points. Error margins for micro-targeting can range much higher.

UPDATE: Attorney Orly Taitz website is reporting that a Georgia Judge has issued a subpoena demanding Barack Obama appear in court January 26 AND produce his original long form birth certificate, passport records, collegeregistration records and more.

Dr. Orly Taitz, attorney for one of the plaintiffs in the Georgia eligibility cases working their way rapidly through the courts, posted a copy of what is reportedly a subpoena, issued by Judge Michael Malihi of Georgia.

The subpoena demands that Barack Obama himself appear in court on Thrusday, January 26, and bring with him a laundry list of official documents that will prove or disprove his eligibility for office.

The list is frankly a “birther’s” dream.

Unlike previous cases, where only certain documents were requested or discussed, this subpoena issued by Judge Malihi includes every document that serious eligibility experts have been discussing from the beginning. The list requires Obama to produce each of the following:
1.Any and all certified birth records including a long form birth certificate.
2.Certified school/university registration records. Certified immigration/naturalization records.
3.Certified passport records
4.Redacted certified Social Security card applications for each of the aliases and other legal names used by Barack Obama,
5.including but not limited to his legal surname
6.when adopted by step-father Lolo Soetoro

In addition, Judge Malihi has reportedly also subpoenaed Hawaii Health Department officials and commanded them to produce an original certified copy of Obama’s long form birth certificate.

Ron Paul's contributions from the US Military is 74% according to a new poll. That's more than the contributions of any other candidate including Obama combined.

Ron Paul Campaign Statement on South Carolina Primary

“The race for the Republican nomination is wide open—and is a marathon, not a sprint.”

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign released the following statement regarding the South Carolina primary results. Below please find comments from National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton:

“Ron Paul performed well in South Carolina tonight despite his focus on other states and campaigning in the Palmetto State for only four days.

“Dr. Paul quadrupled his 2008 numbers after tripling them in New Hampshire and Iowa.

“Tonight’s results also throw this race wide open. There still is no indisputable front runner. The long hard road to the nomination is merely beginning.

“As a result of their showing this evening, establishment candidates Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich will have a lot more questions raised next week.

“Romney and Gingrich have an abundance of big government positions and flip-flops for which Republican voters will want answers. The answers to those questions are out there and this is just the beginning of the scrutiny of these candidates.

“If the Republican Party nominates a candidate who supported the healthcare individual mandate and bailouts, they do so at their peril as tonight’s top two finishers would deliver President Obama a second term.

“After tonight, only 37 delegates, or 1.6 percent of total delegates, have been awarded. The race for the Republican nomination is a marathon—not a sprint—and our campaign has in place a comprehensive plan to secure 1,144 delegates and win the nomination.

“Ron Paul is the only candidate with the plan and record to change the status quo. He consistently polls the best of the Republican candidates against President Obama, and has the grassroots support and nationwide organization to sustain the type of campaign we are about to see.

“Looking ahead, we see a lengthy, 50-state national campaign. Dr. Paul is fully prepared to win.

“See you on the campaign trail.”

The Case for Ron Paul for President

America is the greatest nation in human history. Belief in Liberty, limited government, and sound money made us the freest and most prosperous people in the world.

But we have strayed far from our founding principles, and America now faces unprecedented challenges. Two trillion dollar deficits, soaring inflation, disregard for civil liberties, and an ever-growing federal bureaucracy threaten the very fabric of our country and the futures of our children and grandchildren.

We are spending ourselves into oblivion. The out of control Federal Reserve is destroying our dollar. Big government is undermining our personal freedoms. And, our foreign policy has us playing world’s policeman -- straining our military, draining our resources, and making us more vulnerable.

Congressman Ron Paul has been leading the fight against these problems for decades. And, he has consistently confronted these challenges with common-sense solutions: real spending cuts and adherence to the Constitution.

Ron Paul’s record of principled leadership is unparalleled. He has always fought for America’s constitutional values, even when it required him to stand alone in Congress, and no other leader in this country has a track record to match.

Dr. Paul had the vision to see where big government ideas would take us,as well as the courage to speak out when others refused to acknowledge what was coming. He predicted the housing bubble and the financial crisis and knows that these problems, caused by excessive spending and artificial credit, will not be solved by more of the same. As president of the United States, Ron Paul will have the strength and integrity to make the hard choices it will take to fix our country.

Ron Paul is the only presidential candidate who would cut enough spending to avert a debt crisis. Only he will restore constitutionally sound money. And, only he will strengthen our national defense by bringing our troops home and putting an end to the nation-building that is draining our country.

Americans are sick and tired of politicians who say one thing, do another, and conveniently switch their stands in time to run for higher office. Many candidates will give lip service to the problems we face, but when the rubber meets the road, how can we trust them to follow through?

America needs a president we can believe in. Dr. Paul’s unimpeachable integrity stands alone in a political environment crowded with opportunists and Johnny-come-latelies.

In these trying times, America needs the leadership that only Ron Paul can provide. America has moved far away from her traditions. We need a true statesman to lead us back to our roots and restore our Liberty.

Ron Paul is that man, and now is the time to take action. I hope America will join me in supporting Ron Paul for President of the United States in 2012.

NEWT GINGRICH IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE

Newt Gingrich is a big government, anti-conservative guy on so many levels that it’s often hard to fully comprehend just how awful a Republican he is.
