What's the issue in question? Is it a Euro thing?

We are unique in the EU insofar as we, as a population, actually get a say in what happens in the decision making process in Europe. That is a BIG stick to be able to wave.

We'll be good little Europeans as usual satisfying ourselves with a pat on the head every couple of months from Olli Rehn. Libra is right. We have a huge stick if only we had politicians with the bottle to use it.

Incidentally, you'll notice that this has turned into a Franco-German political issue when it should have been an economic one. This is not about saving a currency. It's about saving the European banks which are in the same mess as our own. But I can guarantee you that Italy, France and Germany will burn their bond holders.

I'm sure they'll let us keep the tricolour and we can still sing rebel songs as we live under rule from Berlin !

It means, once again, the snivelling little toadies will vote for what Europe wants, a United States of Europe.

Yes, it is primairly the people, not alone the politicians that have failed this nation for many years now. They were afraid and greedy. Promises of jobs and prosperity, more farm grants and better wages were held before them. They had their reason corrupted and their common sense stolen by carefully tailored lies in the media. But I think it was fear that got the best of them. And once again it is in fear and panic of the engineered Eurozone collapse that they will vote to give away the last of our soveringty. A shallow lie will fool those who have not bothered to learn how to reason and critically think for themselves.

I see Enda has chickened out yet again. The time for negotiating was before committing to the deal, not after. doh

yeah i heard him on the radio, what a clown, he has no intention of asking for a write down as he has clearly stated we should pay back all our debts, he is speaking through both sides of his mouth, anyway looks like we will have a vote early in the new year unless the attorney general can find a way to avoid it

Hes protecting his own...thats his job...Kenny should do the same and protect his own instead of pandering to Europe
If the conservatives had their way they would bring the whole thing down ireland

jimbo79: he is protecting the banks, he would probably sign up if they weren't going to tax banking, if they are left on their own after this his brinkmanship will have badly backfired, he should have looked for allies before the meeting, if the euro fails the uk are in deep trouble as italy greece spain owe them billions upon billions

I wonder is there a right time to shoot politicians? If they are acting treasonously? If they are giving away National Soveringty? If they are giving away the State finances to unknown gamblers? If there are hurting the poor while giving their friends bonuses? Maybe there is no right time. Maybe we should just sit back (or bend over) and take it?

Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force you are ruined"
