Most of us start life with as little information that is expected of young people. But as we grow older, our schools, family and social system fail to provide us with the basic means that enable us to function efficiently in society. So I'm going to share with you some of the things I learned the hard way.
Be positive. Whether you notice or not, we are surrounded by many criticizing, nagging and whining voices that limit our ability to view the brighter side of life. Complaining about difficulties we meet may get us some emotional relief on the short run, but they will definitely hold us back on achieving our aspirations. Always keep an optimistic view of life and use positive words in your language with yourself and others.
Be bold. Maybe that was the most important advice I needed to hear in my adolescent years. Being afraid of what people might think or say is the number one obstacle in our society. Reality is that people aren't really interested in every single thing we say or do. Sometimes our high sense of self-consciousness compels us to miss out on a lot of things. Don't be a prisoner of your own worries. Remember that real courage is not the absence of fear, but not letting the fear stop you from doing the things you want.
Live with passion. Find out the things you love doing in life. Try to remember what you liked to do when you were a kid. Set aside a block of time in your day to do something that makes you very happy. Whether you discover your passion in sports, arts, crafts, traveling or any other activity you feel related to, it is these activities that will be the most rewarding in your life. If you can make your passion into a full time job, then you will be one of the happiest people on earth.
Control your thoughts. If you want to sleep well at night and live your day in peace and harmony with yourself, then you have to turn off the drama that keeps running in your mind each time someone or something goes against your liking. It is not going to be easy, but each time you find your mind wandering away from the present moment try to get it back on track.
Stop trying to be perfect. The wonderful thing about this advice is that not only will you discover that it makes your life easier, but that life and people are more enjoyable and acceptable when we see them that way. It is actually more of the opposite on this matter. It is the imperfections of things that make them perfect.
