As I see it the chance of becoming a widower and the long separations makes the Soldier a unattractive choice. If it's a uniform fetisch there are a lot Bus drivers and parking attendents to choose from.

women in uniform are ok except in gestapo uniform I guess you are still fearing your ex police
For me it looks very thrill and excitement, how does the military person have in a date, well maybe Im just that curiousity coz' i never got into dating on one of them I guess....
Wore the Captain's uniform myself, married a young Army Officer, still married nearly 20 years later and accepted that there would be times we could have been separated. We've actually been separated more times since we've been working as civilians than ever while in the Army.
All in all, there isn't one thing that I'd change and I've never regretted marrying him.

another numbskull topic no wonder you have to hang with cloud...

Agreed, the Gestapo uniform is a total turn off; ever see any of the Ilsa, the she-wolf of the SS movies... It is hard to imagine any female in any modern military uniform, they all seem rather lacking in 'panache' to say the least.Perhaps if they tried one of the Vatican Guard uniforms, or the dress uniform of Argentina's or Peru's Presidential Honour Guards, or even the Italian Carabinieri uniform, they may get the excitement going. Women seem to have the market however on choosing what uniforms turn her on , as their excitement levels seem to be much lower than males in general in regards to uniforms which can be either combat or dress uniforms, hell, probably even a sanitation engineer's uniform from NYC or Ratwhiskers, Arkansas for all that matters. Like what male would be 'turned on' by a female dressed up in a Marine's set of Blues with stiletto heels, fishnet stockings(minus the blue pants, of course) and perhaps a DI's hat worn at a 'rakish' angle... Babes in Camo? Nah, never knew one guy that got excited at the girls when they posed in camo combat uniforms at Soldier of Fortune magazine...Posters were one thing, but not in the flesh...it always ends up back in the usual Burlesque type 'uniform' as worn by Marlena Dietrich in the film Blue Angel...

well quite honestly, I have made it fairly clear that I am NOT interested in dating active duty servicemen. I have questions as to my personality being compatible to career military men - not just men who have served and are vets , that's fine - I mean career military - I just do not think I'd be compatible as I am not one to "obey"
And as for active duty, the lifestyle is not desirable

Uniforms don't make the person-- personality does. And soldiers need love too!
A widow/er is not made by the loss of a soldier, they're made by the loss of a spouse's life no matter the profession.
A solubrious salute to those who have served, are serving and will serve to help maintain the freedoms we are all entitled to--That includes the freedom for those to create threads such as this.

I don't think anyone is trying to disrespect the military. these are compatiblity issues and lifestyles preferences like any other
in addition the rather pervasive and ongoing military scam on this very site - this another caution

The ends don't justify the means, ma'am. To say that a soldier is the cause for widows or to say that a soldier is not an attractive choice is indeed a personal opinion. But it was also said in a degrading manner, perhaps by the lack of a well thought-out post or whatever the OP was thinking.
It's understandable that not every lifestyle is in agreement with others. That's one of the beauties of our lives...they're different, and it's nice to be able to find someone that suits your lifestyle and you with theirs.
I agree with you about military scams, but to toss the real military personnel into that mix would be unjustified. I believe you didn't intend for it to sound that way, but you did say "- this another caution." Perhaps those scams are the real caution and not genuine military personnel?
