"" Kucinich Withdraws Amid Uproar over His Israel Stance

By George Bennett

November 09, 2009 "The Palm Beach Post" -- U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich lasted less than 24 hours as headliner for the Palm Beach County Democratic Party's annual fundraising dinner after some of the party's elected officials blasted the Ohio Democrat's stance on Israel and threatened to skip the event.

Kucinich, who has a history of criticizing the actions of the Israeli government and opposing congressional resolutions in support of Israel, withdrew Friday as the keynote speaker for next week's dinner after being announced Thursday.

The liberal former presidential candidate had been called in as a last-minute replacement for moderate Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu. Landrieu was dropped as keynoter this week because party activists were upset by her refusal to commit to blocking a Republican filibuster of health care overhaul legislation.

While Landrieu was the target of behind-the-scenes grumbling, Kucinich sparked public revolt.

State Rep. Kevin Rader, D-Delray Beach, said Friday he was withdrawing his pledge to buy a $1,500 table for the dinner and would encourage other Democrats to boycott the event because of Kucinich's record on Israel.

State Sen. Ted Deutch, D-Boca Raton, who's running for the seat that U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler is vacating, called Kucinich "someone whose position on Israel stands in total opposition to the conscience of this community."

County Commissioner Burt Aaronson called the selection of Kucinich "an absolute horror" and said he would refuse to share the podium with him. ""

"The liberal former presidential candidate" who has somehow been endosred by some on the 'right' as a running mate for Paul shuold the latter gather the twenty or so points to get even with Rhomney would turn this race into a left VS left race for control of the US.

I've heard that Cheney might still put his name in as a VP possible. And bring back Bush in sme srt of role is possible as well.

Conrad73: That should bring 'em out!

""On Monday, January 7, 2008 actor Viggo Mortensen endorsed Kucinich's presidential campaign in New Hampshire. On Thursday, January 10, 2008, Kucinich asked for a New Hampshire recount based on discrepancies between the machine-counted ballots and the hand-counted ballots. He stated that he wanted to make sure "100% of the voters had 100% of their votes counted."

On Tuesday, January 15, 2008, Kucinich was "disinvited" from a Democratic presidential debate on MSNBC. A ruling that the debate could not go ahead without Kucinich was overturned on appeal. Kucinich later responded to the questions posed in the MSNBC debate in a show hosted by Democracy Now!

Kucinich dropped his bid for the Democratic nomination on Thursday, January 24, 2008, and did not endorse any other candidate.""

A very distinguished and powerful congressman, arguably from the most powerful country in the world wasn't allowed to 'speak' in his own country because of criticising another country named Israel. classic! So, should we assume that israel indeed controls the USA and her public opinions/policies?uh oh

He was allowed though. Just not as a private fundraiser.

Contrary to what your country does to people who wish to speak out in pulbic and then, after years in jail, win nobel prizes for doing so yet are still not permitted to speak in public or in private.

Dennis should have never been invited as a key speaker to such an event, as he is disliked by his Democratic party since he usually votes with the other side of the aisle. It was probably done just to raise a ruckus so they could dis him, as they did.

I do not believe Paul is anywhere near being 20 points behind Romney as you suggest.

As far as Cheney is concerned, there is no bringing back Bush. Bush was an idiot. Cheney was the man running the show the entire time. Have you not read "The Angler" series from the Washington Post? It was a Pulitzer Prize winning series. Read it when you get time, so much went on behind the scenes. Cheney was the real President. He wanted to be President, but could not, due to his heart condition. Bush was just a front man.

Could you please show us some of these votes where he swung to the right HL?

"MEREDITH, N.H. - Even as he seeks to further cut into Mitt Romney's double-digit lead in New Hampshire, Rep. Ron Paul is looking ahead to how he'll perform in South Carolina. "

Sounds pretty close to twenty doesn't it?

Freed fifty million people, more than any other leader in history. Not bad for an idiot.

He was also a very generous man giving up all his Haliburton stock prior to taking office.

See, bring them both back, free more people!

To tell the truth, I'm tempted to hide your last post as it must be fairly embarassing to you but, in the interest of free speech and all I cannot.

On the above we can agree!cheers

When I read that post I was in a panic as I have had posts hidden by those who are not democratic and take personal affront to politics which, as we all know, is our beliefs rather than our soul so, to not allow others to have the same opportunity to speak is shallow, weak and bigoted.

I searched and found that post of yours, and, am so happy that it was there as if had not been, (as I scrolled up in this thread and did not find it) I was prepared to write one hell of a long and profuse appology to you expaining that I had no idea of how or where it went.

Anyhow, cheers and, back to normal east west bashing.cheers
