PrOwLeR_: I survived the Christian Brothers brutality their way of educating and intimidating children ... had the word of GoD rammed down my throat all my school life ... I did my time as an altar boy and at some point thought of becoming a priest ...

I am not a church goer, dont feel the need and or the bickering ... I have my beliefs .. and they suit my purpose ...

I like the CreeD we all have to believe in something other wise we'd all fall for anything ... Live and Let Live ... works well for me ..

Pushing the word of GoD down someones throat is not how you make friends ... Or keep them ....

Its nice that you found solace when you needed it it Nature ... that to me is how GoD works ... he's around when you need him .... then again so is whiskey ...

More than a few Catholics I have known have said that if you want to turn someone into an athiest all that you have to do is send them to a Catholic school.

Martia: Its funny really that a much greater percentage of females seem to turn to religion,I wonder why.

Maybe because people in the Western societies are alienated from each other. We often don't even know our neighbours. In churches you get to meet many people and can build friendship. Some church services are even entertaining.

Where else do you get these? Where else can people go to? Where else do you make friends. Let's be honest, apart from the pub the options are not so great.

It may make sense to start some kinds of community houses where people can go to and get involved in various functions without charging them a high entry ticket price.

My parents are Roman Catholics. But there was one thing they refused to do. Send us to a Catholic school!(too much praying and not enough academic work..)...Whew, thank goodness!laugh

I have a female online pal, who used to be on CS. she left but we kept in touch. She is now married to someone she met on a spiritual site(not religious based). They are both artists and she has now moved to Wales and seem to nicely suited to each other. I love reading their blogs and looking at their artwork.

some people can live relatively normal lives with whatever religion they follow.
Some people feel the need to impose their beliefs on others with a bashing motion.....doesn't work.
