"The president of the National Association of Evangelicals resigned after denying an accusation by a male prostitute that the pastor paid him for sex over three years. The Rev. Ted Haggard, an opponent of gay marriage, said he is also temporarily stepping aside from the pulpit of his church in Colorado Springs, Colorado."

Do as you preach -- an age old maxim that this born-again, gay-bashing, anti-abortion fanatic should have kept in mind.

Methinks Haggard and most fanatics protest too much.

It says somewhere in the bible that God will expose those who are not real... And those who do the devils work. (Only put in my words) Maybe someone knows what I'm talking about and can quote it.

Seems like more and more people inside the churches are getting caught for everything. Then they wonder why the pew's are empty. How can someone be an ambassador for god, and not walk in his light, and still go in front of others and preach against that he had done himself?

All this talk about God and the bible and christianity...what about other religions??? Come on now ppl..you wanna talk religion lets talk about how its always the "god fearing" christian bible thumpers we hear about molesting raping or hiring prostitutes...ever hear about the dali lama raping an alter boy? or a wiccan priest or priestess molesting a boy or hiring a prostitute...hmm maybe one should rethink their beliefs before spouting about family values...

JUST MY OPINION

I have to agree with you on this one. I have alot of family values and am also a Christian. I don't attend church for some of the reasons you have mentioned. Anymore the churches have become so terrible and hypocritical and I'm not "donating" my money for "sins" so to speak.

I worship in my own way, in my own time and wherever I feel like it. I don't try to push my beliefs on anyone else. I try to live my life the way God wants, but I make mistakes, as we all do.

I just laugh and laugh when after they get accused or perhaps threatened with punishment or public ridicule theyhow you say it... "get right with the lord" or "willing confess their sins".

warning that should be posted before TV relgous shows and at the doors of all places of worship:

believe and have faith in the message....
not the messenger

I think the point of this thread is that religion is not neccesarily good for politics. Just because a politician claims to be religious does not mean he is trustworthy or ethical. He is no better, and usually much worse, than those politicans that do not play the "religion" card. Politicians who use religion to get votes, are much worse than those that don't!

Here is the deal... democrats are for labor, the working class and people who make less than $330,000 a year. Republicans are for big business. If you are labor, vote labor! Do not let the Republicans make a fool out of you. They use religion to get your vote. Do not be manipulated!

Abortion, gay marriage, are side issues. Politicians use these to mask the real issues, manipulate, and get votes.

There are bad apples in every bunch, cops who kill, priests who molest, parents who murder their children, teachers who molest, on and on....
Don't forget about the ones who never get caught.

Republicans know that economically disadvantaged people tend to be religious. So they use religion to get people who should be voting democratic, to vote republican.

I think politicians hide behind a veil of religion just like a p*dophile priest hides behind his collar. They are going to say whatever they need to get a vote. Do they really go to church? are they just there for show if they do? They will only be rewarded in the eyes of fools.

It is funny how they talk morals but at the same time all they are really concerned about is money. I wonder how many churches donate to a political party from their collection plates..non taxable moneys???

Yes and there are alot of priests out there that do imorral things. They are sheep in wolves clothing and feed off the trust of others. Unfortunately politicains do the same and use this same pulpit to take advantage of people.
