I like to start my mornings on a happy note, so what better place to inspire than Bhutan?....Which seems to be shared by everyone at the university of El Paso, Texas...
btw, contentment in Bhutan is measured by the level of happiness - it has a Gross National Happiness index. We can see why...

Cool architecture and the tapestry is incredible.
FYI, UTEP was known once as Texas Western College. They played in the 1966 National Championship game and beat Kentucky. All 5 starters for Texas Western were African American, a 1st in college basketball history.

venere08: I understand it might still be a tad prohibitive to the general tourist, certainly to the student backpacker or budget traveller...You are required to pay the tour guide $200 per day of your stay there, from time of entry into Bhutan.
A very good friend of mine runs trips out to Bhutan, they even do mountain biking trips out there...

He's done really well with his adventure travel company. I was out in Pakistan with him back in 1990 organising a new trek. Since then his company has really taken off, they do adventure holidays in many countries round the world these days.

That's really great to hear about your friend. Obviously he organises the trips in a way that the word spreads. Just looking at the link you posted, I can see why.
I would love to do such a thing in a certain part of Italy where I have my home. I was speaking to a woman last night, a friend of a friend, who suggested cooking classes from a local. Basically, most of us seek out new experiences through other cultures.
