I think it is quite easy to fall for someone over the internet and I would presume the same for in jail. I would say that they fall in love with what and how the person talks to them and how much the person tells them as if they trust them with anything they can tell them. The thing is that they give no thought to the others mannerisums or behaviours. Some people have alot of trust in people until something goes wrong.

Yeah I get how a relationship can build and develop online - if we have regular contact with someone we can tend to share things about our lives, our families and our private thoughts which lead to a sense of closeness and a bond can form.

But can one truly fall in love with someone they have never met confused

Hey S. hug I don't believe you truelly can. You may think you do but for alot of them, they don't seem to last once they meet. Plus I think some people are in love with the thought of being in love.

serene56: with prisoners. Often these men are in gaol for serious crimes and will not be released for many years.

Mostly their contact is through letter writing and occasional visits and the relationship builds from there.

I personally knew a woman here locally, who was a friend of my ex's and I had got to know her well back then...Years later, after she had put herself through law school as an adult and become a lawyer, she did something really screwy, excuse the pun, not once but twice. She befriended her client, a convicted murderer, then started having lonnnnng visits in his cell. Long story short, she was cuaght but got off when she took herself off the case, but it fizzled out, though she might have even married him.

As if this weren't enough, she went and did it again!...This time, she gone done goiod and proper, got deregistered by the Law Society, the rest is history. Sweet revenge though, as she had harboured one of my ex's mistresses while I was still married, thinking it was ok to do... grin

p.s. this second time refers to her getting into a relationship with another different convicted murderer...talk about the bad boy syndrome.doh

I always wondered about that. Is it the bad guy image that attracts them, the excitement or are they desperate women? confused

I think that some times it's not desperation but being sick of being alone. Any company is better than none and then because that person is all they have and communicate with on a personal level it makes the person feel wanted and appreciated, so they continue to keep seeing them and visiting them with the belief it will all be good once they are out of prison. JMO dunno
