Oh my, reading all the protective parents up here now I really wish I had a mother or father like you folks.
I was left home at 12-13 and that was ok, and if I needed something I just walked over to my grands 3-4km.
Then again I don't have any children so I don't know what would I do, it would be up to the 15 year old, and how responsible He or She is.

michael63ca: Would you leave your 15 year old daughter at home for a week by themselves to go on a trip with your new boy/girlfriend?
NO way that is negligent and besides I would just ask my parents or brothers to have the kids that way we all get a holiday.
