.....What is the criteria for success?

I know that this site can be successful. I have met two lovely gentlemen here. I did not date them at the same time grin. One, I dated for 8 months and one I dated for almost 2 years. Normal men, relatively speaking blues. Both lived in the same city as myself, not too far from me. That made life easy.

But this is an International dating site and my question is; can a relationship between people from different cities/countries be successful?

I think not!

Sometimes (against my better judgement) I get into wonderful long term conversations with really nice people, but they live far from me and eventually things fall apart.

Should I stick to my guns and try to avoid forming bonds with people who are in different cities/countries or can successful relationships be found in this way also? Have any of you ever had a successful long distance relationship?

Thanks in advance to anyone who might contribute to this thread.

Hugs,

The short answer to your Q Imm. is yes...Also depends on how you define a successful relationship.

Thanks Rockabilly....So 1 in favour so far. My definition of a successful relationship (amongst many things) would have to include being able to be in the same space at the same time at least once every fortnight or so. Don't have to spend every evening together (I'd probably hate that), but at least some time spent together periodically.

it does work and takes two people to work

The expectations can be different but as long as you go the same path and iron any differences it can work.

I dated someone for 20 months in another country to mine

Thank you Lush for your input. You are right. You definitely need 'good intention' from both sides, so will add that to the criteria.

Somewhere in there, there also has to be the intention that one person will be willing to eventually physically relocate, non?
