apart from reading the riot act daily, I read Alan Sugar's latest autobiography and I have to say it was extremely dull, dour and completely uninteresting. Now reading an old one - It's a long way from penny apples by Bill Cullen and I have to say despite my reservations it's quite a rollicking read - sort of Maeve Binchy without the romance. And I finally read the Godfather and that was a great read. Especially the first half.

Have to say knew little about her until heard a radio interview about6 months before she died. I had meant to watch the documentary - must find time to watch it on rte player. I have a few books I re-read regularly.
shyjim: I jsut read Private Games by James Patterson. I thought it was ok to be honest.
He's such a prolific writer & is now doing a few different series I think - fave of my best mate (will get around to borrowing them one day) I read a few years ago, mostly Alex Cross ones and then it got a bit... not predictable but the writing style becomes too familiar.

That's a very fair point Sally. I agree with you on the Alex Cross series. I tend to switch authors when I get bored.
Am currently reading 'The Shadow of The Wind' by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.
Set in Barcelona just after WW2 a ten year old boy is given a present of a book. As he grows older he tries to learn more about the author and it consumes him. Magical and everything about it enhances my love of books and a good story

This was brilliant and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.
Have since read 'The Murder of King Tut' by James Patterson. I thought it was crap and have officially given up on James Patterson
Have started The Librarian and am really enjoying it so far.
wexlady41: A woman who has died but is in spirit form watching her loved ones and helping them.
Yep it's chick lit, but right now it's helping me.
Ah some of the best authors are women and I find them interesting to see how they build a character and how they think and behave. It gives us neanderthal males some clues to the woman's mind

Alice_Hooper: I'm currently reading Factory (about the record label) and after that it will be Round Ireland with a fridge by Tony Hawks
Quite like the idea of round ireland with a fridge - read about that guy a couple years back. Just demolished Paula Spencer - A novel by Roddy Doyle & keep dipping in and out of Chris Evans Memoir of a Fruitcake.
Anyone got a book that you think everybody should read? Niall Williams Four Letters of Love stands out for me - I think it's just beautiful.
