Having minimal floors on an upper level helps when you get older. But I still wish I had one room upstairs. Exercise doesn't hurt.

For me I like minimalist but also I like traditional-adobe-houses in both cases small.

People worry about stairs when growing old but as you have said as long as people can walk it is good to do some exercise.

Also, water supply is very short and to think in a pool is an ecological sin
The county government is doing some fixing in the principal avenue of my town and they are placing "plastic grass" yes plastic on it because we have not enough water!
