Cultural similarity is a part of it, for instance I don't see myself marrying an Aborigine.
It really depends, I find that middle class cultures across the globe are very similar and so they could mingle with each other and never encounter much that is strange. But the poor tend to adhere closer to their own national traditions and peculiarites, so they are far more cultural diverse upon a global scale and are less interchangeable.

Not an issue for me ... if I would truly be inlove with someone, I would try to make efforts to understand his culture, and I would love someone who would also the same. Someone who would be interested in my culture (how strange it may seem from his own) and would be willing to understand that's its the way my heritage is ... and not change me because he wants to. I am also willing to do the same.

I hear very many languages around me every day. I look around and I see, in a place where you can have 10 or 20 different nationalities in the same room,that the best friendships develop among people that have the same nationality.
In my DE class, the teacher asked at some point who has a partner of a different nationality. Guess what, out of 10 different nationality, not even one had a partner of a different nationality than his/her own.

firstly nationality and race are not the same thing - he in the US we have a fair racial melting pot but all are Americans if born or naturalized here For me nationality or original nationality is not important
