EagleWoman: There´s are beautiful scenes in the film "Elephant Man" where he is teaching a young blind girl what colours "feel" like along the lines of blue= cold/red=hot and another one where he gives her cotton wool so that she gets a "feel" of the clouds ...

RDM59: ... say hi to Bonzo, he's my guide dog.

We are just going to sit quietly and watch this one for a while....

So that's where he went. My parents said he had gone to dog heaven, and my older siblings said he was taken out in the forest and shot. But ok. It was in 1983.

I like trees, I really do. They look very nice if I can brag a little bit about Norwegian nature. I don't know to much about them, but learning about how they work is really fascinating. On the other hand, there are many excellent writers writing really good, in depth, on how good they look. Reading it is very nice. As that knowledge increases, the understanding of the tree changes, as Eaglewoman says on the path of experiences.

But they are still not comparable to the tree itself. How it looks, with the act of seeing in itself, observing them in the moment, not what you know or what you have heard about them. As soon as you apply your knowledge, it is not the tree anymore, but our own understanding. Isn't that a contradiction to the tree in itself? because it is not the tree. As you walk past the tree, you know it is the same tree, but without that application, the tree change form and shape and you change aswell. Not sure if ppl care to notice these things. But the knowledge is then irrelevant to the tree, is it not? Because the knowledge is not the tree. I think the same about the truth, and then you may get what I mean with the dream.

I'll watch this thread too :)

The only change I see going on is your own education and knowledge of the processes of nature. Understanding or not understanding that doesn't change the reality of it. It is just you that has changed.

Well, exactly :/ the subjective part changes but the objective does not. The subjective part is not the truth, and leads to big questions on the entirety of the psychological, subjective part of humans, which is made up of contradiction, knowledge and experience.

By observing the tree without application there is no contradiction, no conflict. If one looks at the world, the society, or ones own life, there is huge contradiction, by this definition. Gathering armaments, going to war, political ideologies, nationalism, or conflict in relationships between husband and wife, parents and kids, etc. It explains a lot, especially the blind man listening to his own dream and not seeing the truth.

So, what is the truth grin

You sound smart, and at your age you must have many experiences. Maybe you can tell what the truth is.

If not, I'll re-open the basement grin

In response to: Question

Does a blind man dream, and if he do, does he understand what he sees?

Answering this would be the blind leading the blind hmmm However, very interesting question...
