robbzzr: hi eagle...I too have known this point of view...am aware of it..
I am not sure of re incaranation..?I do believe we all have a soul..
that is released...when life ceases as human body..
I am not a religious person..main stream religion anyway...
but I find truth in the writings of Buddhism..and in there ways...
I am currently reading...dalai lama right to happiness..
fantastic book...for one self..this indicates to me..
that in order to live ones life in peace and interanl happiness..
firstly it is how we ...percieve things as an individual ,ones self..
in any given situation..
we are all brought up by parents/carers..these people initiate ..beliefs /morals/guidelines...It is this that initiates a thought process..to what is right and what is wrong..?we react.accordingly..
sometimes these beliefs/morals are not correct..but subconsciously
they cause us to react..hence the reaction,,outcome to the situation..
tends to be the same path...same answer..
in order to change the result.. caused by the reaction ..we need to
change the line of thought.thought process..to what we perceive as right and wrong...eastern--western as we agree are both different in..
cultures beliefs..some morals..ideals.. this also indicates..
the answers are within yourself ...but firstly we must understand
to gain inner peace..peace with our self...we must look our thought process ..and the morals/upbringing..in this life..right from wrong..
which also suggests karma doesn,t play a part in this life..at all..
doesn,t carry on ...very deep subject...controversial one..
may be it does....but ..maybe it doesn't
have a good day..

Have spent years "unlearning" the "clutter- legacy of my upbringing, culture, society" and cleaning, healing, creating new thought processes and looking at things with new eyes. All answers within for sure!!! Often amazing ones!
May be the person who told me that needed that particular thought process at that time to work through personal stuff. If it helps them forgive and release stuff that´s happened to them, then it´s doing "its job" as a belief.
