Voting to stop the debt ceiling being raised is like saying lets put Australia into recession and allow 1000's of workers to be laid off.

Sounds much like the anti-GST lobbyists. "The GST means everything will rise by 10%"

FACT Sales Tax was a minimum of 12.5% and was as high as 33.3% on some goods (mainly cosmetic goods such as lady products and deodorants). GST was to eliminate these taxes so that there was uniformity on the very well hidden Sales Tax.

FACT All those who only managed to pay a minimum Income Tax with company deductions for everything (eg Kerry Packer) would now be paying tax and those unfortunate salary workers would see Income Tax reform.

Sounds very much like the Whitlam supporters of the 70s. "Who cares what it costs, pay us not to work but have the same amount as those who are stupid enough to work and pay taxes."

Sounds very much like Keating. "Australia is a Banana Republic.
banana so let's float the Aussie dollar and put no guarentees on what it is worth. If businesses can't compete against all those cheap heavily subsidised overseas imports, let them go under and the workers we support can go on the dole and not worry about working."

I am old enough to remember banks paying 3% interest on bank deposits and home loans were 5%.head banger And then being in times when friends were paying 25% on their home loans because of economic mismanagement.

In 1976, I was paying 3% on a Government assisted low income home loan when the going rate was 7%. By early 1978, the going rate had risen to 12% and my wife and I took an option of 15% fixed-interest loan to buy a second property (much better income and the wife's income was considered). Friends sais we were mad paying that much as interest rates would surely go down. At the end of 1978 we were still paying 15% while friends were paying 20-25% interest.

I support Fiscal Management from the top, not the paltry bribes the current is doling out to buy votes.

I'm not a supporter of the man, yet I still cringe and feel embarrassed on behalf of those who do, when he says such stupid things, which amount to absolute nonesense, sometimes akin to children's nonesense rhymes.uh oh

I must make a comment on these Budgie Smugglers (my pet hate) uh oh it is a well known fact that cold water make the male apparatus shrink to minute proportions.
So this is one of the reasons that when males wear these little Budgies always look so .....well to be frank tiny' so why the hell do guys continue to wear them as they do NOT do you any favours in that department.

It seems they are the in thing for the older generation and Liberals Politicians, Apart from Abbott even our own Vic Premier ventures out in them. doh

There maybe snow on the roof but the fire still burns. blushing grinso there. wave

Having grown up in Cronulla and spending nearly every school holiday and weekend (bit too cold and rough in winter), board shorts were the norm for the cool surfies. But budgie smugglers are preferred when hard swimming in the surf when neccessary to save some stupid twit who can't swim. Boardies in the surf do slow you down a lot.

And how many of our top swimmers see competing in boardies?

But I do agree that many of us should where something more appropriate.

Which picture really sends shivers up your spine:

1. Abbott in budgie smugglersdoh
2. Juliar in a brief bikinifrustrated drinking drinking drinking frustrated frustrated

And now back to the news room for further updates after those very important commercials.

The Aussie dollar has dropped again and is now 8.637% below what it was 1 week ago aganist the $US. On the positive side, the $Au has maintained its steady value against Japans Yen. We have stayed around 70 yen to $Au since we became a banana republic. It was not a small drop (from the THEN Govt's pint of view) from 200 yen to $AU IF WE COULD GET CHEAP IMPORTS.
