I was being treated for tennis elbow, but it turned out that the tennis elbow wasn't the issue - I had pulled a muscle in my back -

no wonder nothing worked including cortisone injections....

Needle in elbow painful and only lasts for awhile. I have heard there is a liniment, they use for horses, very good for things like that, someone on here may know the name. Or try stretching your tendons, slowly.

Hi BJ wave hug

Avoid the cortisone injection if possible, I never had tennis elbow but years ago I had a rotated cuff injury and had alot of problems with pain from my shoulder down my arm and they tried cortisone and It didn't help, nor would i ever have that stuff in my system again.

1. Daily high doses of high quality fish oil(about 6,000-10,000mg or 10ml liquid per day) or better still krill oil(more potent and has something that ordinary fish oil does not)...reduces inflammation at a cellular level.

2. Daily high dose of Glucosamine with chondrointin (scientifically found to help to rebuild cartilage). Wagner is the brand to get.

Persevere and simply include it in your daily routine.
cheers

Magnetic healing and laser treatment all over the sore spots on your body should get to the problem, because if you don't look at all the spots causing you grief it wont work , usually it takes a few months to heal with treatments. It def does work thumbs up

p.s. don't ever be badgered into have cortisone injections. Rubbish to your system and not a permanent solution.

2 shoots of cortisone in my elbow and no problems 11 years later.

This year, had cortisone injection in my shoulder. Had massive pains and tingling down my arm (they checked the heart and it is still ticking). And not rotated cuff injury either. Eased the pain but didn't cure all the symptoms Blueey described. But at least I can live with this much lesser pain.

Blueey, did you ever get it fixed?

I had a few cortisone treatments over the year - 6 to break up the muscular spasms in my back 29 years ago - I was hospitalised for 10 days while I receiving treatment, and 2 abt 10 years ago, to fix my rotata cuffs (Left and right)... by a doctor who does not endorse cortisone injections - but it was either that or surgery...

My advise is that if you haven't seen a doctor do so...

My doc doesn't like cortisone injections but preferred this option to invasive surgery when it wasn't clear exactly what the problem was after the Xrays and ultrasound showed inflamation inside the ball joint of the shoulder. And the injection did not hurt like most people claim. I am a big wooz with needles and it was much less painful than pricking my finger for blood tests.

When the doctor isn't clear, he/she should act responsibly and always send you for an MRI...which is how I recently had it confirmed that there is torn cartilage in my right wrist after nearly a year since injury. And only because in the end I demanded full investigation. It seems that if you are not one prone to dramatics, symptoms are generally dismissed.

No-one's coming anywhere near me with drug filled syringes thanks. I refused an epidural for childbirth and was fine, and also chose to undergo multiple root canal treatment with no anesthetic either(it was the dental surgeon who was fretting...I never fell asleep). I have had left and right shoulder injuries(one from a fall, the other unexplained. While it does take time, I could hardly move even with physiotherapy regarding the left shoulder, so I persisted all on my own using movements such as particular certain belly dancing exercises. Cured and full movement regained....Many doctors will claim they don't like cortisone injections, but most will eventually suggest it.

In the end, every body is different and we all have different pain thresholds, so what works for one may not work for the other.

bjsss and Wash, if you would like the number of a good muscle manipulator, who uses a variety of massage techniques and acupuncture, just let me know.

I have been seeing him every couple of months for nearly 2 years and the difference he has made in my shoulders and back is amazing. $80 a vist for 60-80 mins

bjsss there is also a myotherepist in Boronia that people have told me has done wonders with tennis elbow and carpal tunnel. Not sure of the cost of this one.

Other than that there a a variety of straps and bands avaialble to support your arm/elbow.

Hey everyone, thank you all for the advice and tips ... I have been to the doc about this and the first thing he said was... lets put a needle in the elbow. I can tell you that that has not and will not happen... I did buy a tennis elbow strap/band thingy and it was a waste of money.uh oh I will try the things that have been suggested here and will how it goes. grin
