hi all..... am hitting gods country for 3 months work,landing in canada on 27th july. two 28 day shifts and two weeks off inbetween.Staying in smithers for 2 nites, 27-29th july.then hitting a place called vanderhoof, unto a site for a 28 day stint... then its two weeks off,where we return to smithers... so was wondering what to do for the 2 weeks off.... was thinking maybe just going to vancouver and see what happens...... any advice...

Vancouver is great if you like a lot of cultural events and festivals. There are some nice beaches there too. Maybe spend a week there and a week somewhere else. There is so much to see in BC it's hard to pin point where you should go.
On your way down to Vancouver, if you're driving, you will most likely drive through my town. Perhaps we could meet for a beverage.
Wherever you decide to go, enjoy this beautiful province.

Welcome to Canada, the BEST country in the world!
Sounds like a good plan.... there is lots to see in Vancouver and surrounding areas. You are also close to the mountains and can go see them.
Whatever you do, I hope you have a rockin time!!!

Whaddaya mean "even if you are on the west coast"?
I have fond memories of Algonquin park, Simcoe, Georgian, Thunder Bay, Kenora, etc....but there's nothing that compares to the beauty of south central BC.
It's all just different, not better or worse.
