What are some words or phrases that just bug the crap outta you?

I have several, but one that comes to mind is the "word" erm...has anyone actually ever HEARD anyone using that? "Erm???" Isn't it "bupposed" to be "umm?"

hmmm..I think maybe on a Mad TV skit...other than that...nope, can't say I have. Like scraping nails on a blackboard, it is.

Oh, yeah, and while we're at it, using "hum" for "hmmm" or "um"." How many people have you heard preface a verbal thought with the actual word "hum?" Not me, not ever.

dunno confused

Verbal phrases? Well, mine would have to be "you know what I mean"? after every damn thing they say. It's not like I didn't hear or understand the first 50 times they asked!

since you say you see it on the internet quite often, then maybe a lot of people do use 'erm' whilst pondering on a point.. thinking about it i think it could actually be an european thing.. most european languages tend to put quite a lot of stress on the 'r'.. hehe we don't really use just 'erm'.. it's more like an 'errrrrrrrrrmmm' depends on how long it's taking to make up ur mind hehe

well i hope that my 'erm' will not annoy that much in the future cos i do tend to use it quite a lot wink

"F" every other F'in word really F'n drives me nuts when people use "F"
INSTEAD of "um"

"F" is too good of a word when used sparingly, to waste it like that.

I said I see it on the internet quite often, but I've never heard it used in "real life" before. I see it used by Americans on American sites; not just Europeans. No biggie.

Now don't get pissed at me but, when people say at the end of their post, "Just my opinion", who else's opinion would it be ? They wrote it. Paws

That annoys me too. Don't get me wrong. I do say the F word here and there but not in every sentence at every second word.

Last year there was this woman who would come to take her son to the same bus stop as my son for school and all you could understand from her was F this and F that. What pissed me off was that there were children around and she didn't care. That just really annoyed me to no end.

I think the word that irritates me the most

is "Whatever". frustrated When my son, who will be 18 in January

doesn't want to listen to me, he throws up his big ole' hand and

says WHATEVER! doh

Totally drives me up a wall when he does that. help

Maybe just a Canadian thing, but many use the word un-thaw to defrost something. Un-thaw would mean to feeeze it again. Paws

Ahhh....The old toilet seat peeve. In my second marriage, I was surrounded by females. Even all our pets were female. Erm...just kidding. So I know to leave it down after I'm done. And even though I'm now single for over three years, I'm still in the habit of putting it down. But at a buddies place, we started complaining who keeps leaving it down. Everyone thinks this was quite humorous, including the girls, and now the girls put it up for us. banana

I intensly hate the word "extraordinary". Especially when people say it as extra ordinary. What does that mean?!?! It is supposed to mean it's great, I know, but when something is extra special, it is out of this world special. When something is extra ordinary, shouldn't it mean that it is the dullest thing ever?!?!
