People don't want more taxes, anyone voting not to repeal obamacare will be seen as voting for a tax. Two thirds, according to the polls, of US citizens don't want obamacare, the democrats are for it, the Republicans are against it, who will you vote for if you don't want it? The stock market took a dive because of it's effect on business, as business goes so goes the economy. Romneys campaign fund is receiving a flood of money to help him get elected and get rid of this mess.

There is nothing new in any of this . The Republicans said almost the same thing when Social Security was being introduces in the 30's . They also went to the Supriem Court to get it ruled unconstitutional . They also did this with the New Deal policies that where trying to put people back to work . Well it does show what side they really are on and any noise about jobs or the welfare of the people is more noise comming from there backside . I do belive in what one does and not in what they say !

And Social Security is running out of money, a private system would have been better. Some government areas don't participate, check out the Galveston County, Texas retirement plan, much better. The New Deal has been a failure as well, people sometimes need help, they don't need to rely on the government for a lifetime of free living. A big problem with federal expenditures, and debt, is the freebies being given to non-workers (non-taxpayers).

Well for 80 years Social Security did not seem to be a failure . Speaking of " failures " The new deal was a program of building infastructure in the country at a time when jobs where scarce . It was hard work for those that where in it but it was work . I really don't think it was ment to be a free handout as it has been depicted as of late, and it was only to get the counrty back on it's feet again . It's only failure was the Repulicans forcing it to end with Supream court rulings . Had he ( Roosevelt ) not been there and done the things he did we might not be here today as a free country . There was a plan fostered by some republicans to take over the government by force if nessesary and one of it's prescribers was none other that Prescot Bush . Yes Georges father and G.W.'s grandfather . I still do not take anyones word for things, I use there actions instead . I think it is the wise thing to do don't you ?

First of all the stock market didn't take a dive because of this ruling, it's down today because it was up for the last 3 sessions. You might be able to get that BS across to most of the people on this site but not to an active swing trader like me.
Would you prefer to return to the way it was with 45 Million people with no health insurance? Where people get a little sniffle and run like a deer to the ER knowing full well they can't be turned away and also knowing that they wont be paying the bill but YOU AND I WILL?
Or a system where you work your whole life scrimping and saving so you can retire with a little dignity only to lose everything from 1 major medical event? This actually happened to my neighbor Marvin Yowell when his wife got colon cancer. He had to sell his house, his farm and burned through all his savings, and when he was flat broke the hospital sent his wife home only to die 3 days later. Last time I saw him he was living like a squatter in a trailer.
You republicans are always moaning about personal responsibility, hard work, get a job, get off welfare & food stamps, stand on your own 2 feet etc etc. If you stopped to THINK for yourself for a change instead of parroting Rush Limbaugh and Rand Paul and a myriad of Tea Party blowhards, you would realize that this "tax" does exactly what you keep advocating, namely make people take responsibility for their own heal care costs.
I watched Romney's speech after the ruling and he sounded like an angry spoiled little brat.

I agree in part with you Ooby. I pay a lot of money every month for Medicare, Supplemental Medicare and Prescription Medicare because it is my responsibility to take care of my health insurance. I too am infuriated that women push out one baby after another on Medicaid and then run to the hospital when the kid has a sniffle. And what about illegal immigrants who don't have healthcare insurance.

Well once again you do seem to have the funniest ones here . If George W. Bush had been a real fighter pilot like John McCain and not had his daddy get him in the Air National Gard so as to miss Viet Nam, I doubt he would have lied to us about all those weapons of mass destruction . While me and my unit was there some coward was flying around at taxpayer expense( when he was sober ) pretending to be a real figher pilot. I some how wonder if all the lies he said about McCain in the 2000 primary would make him a better patriot

What in the world does g.w. bush have to do with obama anyways?
Besides, every time Obama is trouble over something, he now gazes at g.w.'s official picture in the white house and wonders, "what would George do?"

I think that you fail to understand that the Air National Gard at the time was not to be deployed in Nam . Everybody knew this and that is why his daddy had to use his influence to get George in it . Most guys like me would not have a snowballs chance in hell to get into any guard unit . It was a safe haven for all the sons of polititions to serve in a form of military but not be sent there like I was .

Do me a favor please, could you explain to me (an outsider) what are the objections to Obamacare ? I remember back in 1992 in NY, friends and relatives were talking about the possibility of similar health care system(I guess)similar to Obamacare today. One half of the family was against even the mere mention and the other half were in favor. Now I know that's a long time ago and may not have been exactly what Obamacare is today.

But without the usual going into the politics and differences between Democrats and Republicans, what is the current objection?

Sorry about you're being a trader, maybe you should do better at something else. I've been averaging over $800 a month actual profits, that's trading when I don't have something else to do. I don't just follow anyone, that's what liberals do, I read both sides, listen to them both rant, check the pros and cons, then decide what I think is right, you might try that. As far as your friend goes I feel for him, why did it happen though? Simple, he took a chance, didn't buy health insurance, and lost. He must not have had any life insurance on his wife either, double loser. Do you have health insurance or is the government going to force you to buy it?
