You will be screwed by the big new tax on everything to fix an imaginary problem, but you will not be allowed to know by how much you are being screwed by Juliar Gillard.
There is a clause in the carbon dioxide tax legislation that prohibits sellers of goods or services telling customers how much of the bill/price is carbon dioxide tax.
Such is the depth of Labor's deceit.

Books will be taxed heavily. You can expect books to become much more expensive in Australia.
Think about what is involved in a book.
It is made of paper, which is made of wood pulp.
Trees are cut down, then milled, then formed into paper, then the book is printed, then transported, then put on a shelf under electric lights.
Every step in that process will leave what the lefties call a carbon footprint, so it will be taxed.

Yes, pads and tampons will be subject to Juliar's carbon dioxide tax.
You will not have to move to live in a Third World country. Australia will be one soon enough thanks to the Fabian Marxists of the Labor Party and the Leninists, Maoists and Trotskyites in the Greens.

just the heating & cooling of the shop involves electricity, isn't that going up?
Being a colder year, the next power bill isn't going to look very atractive with a carbon tax atatched.

Wasn't Qld a banana republic at one stage ... ??

Greece - or even Vienna sounds good...

England - even though it's my birth country - they are having the same probs as us... so I would cross that off my list and Tunisa, has just had an uprising .... so maybe there...??

maybe I might land on an a very nice, quiet, unpopulated island, that has plenty of water, sunlight, some rain, plenty of fruit and veges, fish, if the leaky boat decides to sink....dunno banana banana

Before GST, there was a 33.3% Sales Tax on them. You just didn't get to see the Sales Tax unless you were in retail and looked at the invoices. But everyone knows that GST is 10%, and shown on dockets nowadays. Sales Tax was never shown on dockets before.

And Juliar doesn't want Carbon Tax shown to anyone, otherwise she will get the blam for all the increases. Juliar has been very careful in vaguely letting us know that we will be paying $23 per tonne in Carbon Tax in the first year. There is a bit hidden away which also said that this will be increasing each year.

I work for a rural Council and our current electricity bill for street lighting is just over $330,000pa. I have calculated that this will rise to $425,000pa for the coming year (maintenance charges will also rise). But I have been unable to find any information about how much the increases will be for the following years so that I can put some reasonable estimates in the forward budget. I have had to rely on an obscure reference through the internet as it seems that Juliar does not want people to be aware how much this is going to rise each year.

So when you Council Rates come in next year, there will be an bigger rise than the one for this coming year.

Phillipines sounds even better. Mate has built a house there and spent a month over there to finish it off. He is surrounded by small resorts and whenever he wants a cold beer, just walks down to a bar and buys one. Govt has recently added a surcharge for alcohol and the price of beer at these resorts has risen sharply.

It now costs AU25 cents for a cold beer. He had to settle for a 45cm tv as it is the biggest he can buy near where he is. This plus the stereo unit cost him less than $150. TV was $120.
