Whoa' from what I can see is all disabled people are being put in the same basket my Daughter is disabled she is an incomplete Quad...that means that all four of her limbs are affected but her spinal cord has not been severed so she still has feeling, she drives a car very well...the only thing she will never do again is run.

My poor darling is so embarrassed about it that she makes a almighty effort to walk as normally as she can her hands are a bit slow and she has to tell her legs to remember to lift up so she wont fall over which she does when she doesent concentrate.....her determination and sheer bravery is a sight to behold and often I have tears in my eyes just watching her daily struggle but she will never know that.

My partner also teaches those that are disabled mentally and physically and about eighty five percent go on to lead near normal and useful lives' you then have the profoundly disabled who deserve our respect and care' always remember but for the grace of god go we... scold sigh

luckystar1: If you work with someone who has a disability Treat and respect them as a person normal the way they want to be treated.

Work and Equalality
] Equal opportunity folks people with a disability are as human as anyone else. I'm not talking about myself i'm sticking up for people with a disability why they have rights to do anything they have dreams they have ability to speak up for themselves if they can't they'll find a way of communicating with other people not just people with a disablity also normal people same go's for work. How do people with a disability pay for their own things like bills and going to the chemist to get their stuff what about voting everyone with a disability has the right to vote go shopping go have some fun if i moved out of home i'd buy my own furniture my own supermarket food and beverages and my own bed to sleep in my own car so i can drive to get where i want to be. if people with a disability can't be normal then there is a problem with people seeing different ways of living and working. true??

i'd like to see some nice answers

I'm deaf. I'm careful of people. Especially blacks. I was bashed for nothing at this nightclub when I was 17. Never again. I never trusts anyone. Makes for a lonely life, but at least I don't get hurt.

Merriweather: Hey Young fellow, welcome to the threads...

Its just lovely to have a young point of view... and it reminds me of something my own son did around about your age..

He had a friend who had a mild schizophrenic disorder, and he hung with this guy.... I remember my son telling me pretty well what you said in your post... He treated and spoke to his friend as normal, and on one occasion when the friend was having a rough night, he told him to get a grip, or go home.. the friend calmed instantly. With lots of support, from his family and friends, this person grew to be able to hold a job, get married and have a happy loving family...

I honestly think if he had been treated differently, he would not have reached this goal...

Kudos to you young ones... Great attiutude...

That's very GOOD!thumbs up

benidorm: Well I think inclusion is paramount to helping people with disabilities to live an enriched life.I have noticed that people with disabilities can work better than people with out disabilities and contribute better to the economy.

That works better! Helps self-responsibility, and self-reliance, equals independence... which is what I want, too.

True.

Obstacles merely makes us determined to find ways around it!

Some gives up and try again some other times. Some just keeps going until they breaks through or found a way around the obstacles.

I've known a few "dis-abled" a long time ago. At ParaQuad, for a year. Oh well.
