Sorry, just a question in general. There's constant moaning going on about scammers. I don't get much scammer email and whatever I'll get it easy to spot and I just delete it. 
Seriously, why is there so much moaning going on?
I can only speak about Western Europe, as I said I don't get much...

54xmax: I have noticed, that there is more and more scam profiles, they are quite obvious. A stolen picture or two, some basic info, wide age range of who they are looking for. And there is no additional info, or match info.
I think this site is being taken over by scamers, and I think that you should ask for verification pictures, ( Like a person taking it's picture with a written message "Connecting Singles" ), and post it in it's profile, or giving the option not to post it, but picture has to be sent, and if the person don't want to make it public, "you" would still have it, knowing the profile is genuine. There should be also an option, in search, to be able to search all profiles or just verified one way or the other - - - - It would really give a serious big edge over most of the other dating sites out there I am for years already, and I still love it.
People with verified profiles would have access to all the site features. Unverified profiles would have very little access, for example not being able to send emails, unless an email would be sent to them first, and they could only answer on the sent email.
I am writing you, because I am really tiered of all the scam email I am getting, I do report all profiles - - - but I can't be doing that all the time.
Hope you will take in to account my opinion

Actually, I have noticed that it is mostly people, who are in their late fifties and older, who seem to get targetted. At least they are most often the ones, who will post about someone having tried it with them, and sadly, sometimes that they were conned out of money.
Also, scammers hardly ever seem to look at profiles, otherwise I would not get so much mail, complimenting me for my looks.

I have to agree 100% with the author of this thread. It's a brilliant idea and I wish the site would action it, even if on a voluntary basis.
As for the moaning about scammers, the scammers are mostly aimed at men so the ladies here wouldn't see it as such a problem. I estimate that 1 in 6 female profiles on here are fake.
If you were led up the garden path by someone who turns out to be a fraud, if you were an older Gentleman who is lonely and tricked into parting with money or even if you are a lady who is missing out on nice guys because they quit the site due to scamming, you would feel it was a problem too.
Come on the anonymous and somewhat absent administrators of Connecting Singles, give us the site we deserve! It's such a great site but the huge level of scammers on here and the lack of verification are a big stain on it.

For 5 months I didn't get a single scammer or fake mail when I upped my age to 97. Even now I get about 1 in 6 months. No mail from scammers or fakes or anyone for that matter. Maybe they target old men but I don't think they target old women. Well, they don't contact me.

I tried that very thing...I had my age at 125, and I got more scam-mail from 20-30 year olds...than I did to start with... That was a red flag at the beginning, so eventually, I would delete them...and not even waste my time reading.

I've been on sites where they validated through email and/or by telephone. I have no idea which sites I was on at the time. I thought this was an excellent idea. Telephone verification would be labor-intensive for the CS staff, which probably wouldn't too appealing to the staff on here. But email verification could be done automatically, with no intervention by the staff at all. They could even have automatic reverse photo lookup and reverse IP address lookup, to verify that the country is the one they say it is.
I would also like to have the CS staff keep a better watch on the forums and blogs, to weed out users who just constantly cause trouble on here. It gets to the point where it seems not even worth it to be here.

On the other hand, how can you expect someone from Greece to write perfect english? I know I make mistakes as well (I am Dutch) How can we be sure if the person is a scammer? I try to search for them but that is not always working.

I didn't know,that colectively all Greeks,were illiterate in English,and automatically makes someone a scammer,from a non English speaking country.

Sorry not all Greek or anyone else just an example meaning not everyone is good in his english, here in France most of them have troubles with their english. The point is; if someone is from an english speaking country and he writes bad english you can asume he is a scammer but someone from any other country can have problems with it. Then it is difficult to see if the man is what he is.
