After 14 years at National Public Radio, Andrea Seabrook left in July and, to hear her talk about her experience covering Capitol Hill, it’s clear that she had one takeaway: It’s damn frustrating.

“I realized that there is a part of covering Congress, if you’re doing daily coverage, that is actually sort of colluding with the politicians themselves because so much of what I was doing was actually recording and playing what they say or repeating what they say,” Seabrook told POLITICO. “And I feel like the real story of Congress right now is very much removed from any of that, from the sort of theater of the policy debate in Congress, and it has become such a complete theater that none of it is real. … I feel like I am, as a reporter in the Capitol, lied to every day, all day. There is so little genuine discussion going on with the reporters. … To me, as a reporter, everything is spin.”

I hear her!

I said, I hear her!!!!!

It's good for her that she still has her Freedom and she is no longer tied to the guild to report what and how they tell her to report.

Being a puppet reporter is the only way for advancement in the controlled field of MSM.

I would have a desire that Ms. Seabrook would watch Congress meetings and let us hear from her heart, from HER point of view. She is frustrated because she feels Repressed and rightfully so.
I imagine she will probably sit down for awhile and write a book, exposing the drawbacks and control in journalism like so many who have gone before her have done.

Whatever her adventure becomes, I stand behind her choices, as a reader of the Free Press!

Kudos for her!
She's Not gonna take it anymore!!cheering cheering cheering applause applause

So, a long time Capitol Hill reporter, tells us that politicians lie, 98% of the time?

This is news?

I would think that any reporters' job, would be to recognize that public statements are ALWAYS going to be written by advertisers and promoters, and so the reporter will actually have to work, to find out what is really going on. Doesn't matter what your political bent might be.

Might as well tell me the shocking fact that if you report on business, and rely on Public Relations statements for your "facts," that you will get pretty much everything wrong.

Duh.

My take was EVERYTHING in DC is a lie! All we get is spin. she was saying it's time for them to get tarred and feathered and run out on a rail. Being a reporter she must watch what she says or her career ends when they shuffle you completely out of the loop.

Absolutely the TRUTH.
I have the book and have read it...
"Truth and Duty: The Press, the President, and the Privilege of Power" by Mary Mapes.

They black balled her Big Time!
She released the story on Abu-Garibe and told the truth about Bush being AWOL from the USAF. She tells ALL in her book.

She tells of the controll of the media and how NBC let her go, due to pressure from the owners, the Guild who Owns the Media. They not only let her go, but they defamed her character, harrassed her family and did everything but kill her physically. It was a nightmare for her.

I sympathize with those in the Press who stick to their guns, despite what can be done to them. Praise God for those who believe in Truth and the Freedom to report it! Their lives are truely in danger.
