No problem letting go of pleasant emotions, but my God, can I hold a resentment. I can hang on to the anger and forget what I'm angry about. Grumble Grumble.

i had an experience of this that was a revelation- I had a huge feeling of unbearable loneliness wish for a partner and I just gave in to it completely I WAS the emotion (usually I would argue to and fro with myself justify tamp down etc) it was total feeling -surrender to the feeling- no mind and after about 13 minutes the feeling dissolved in one second and I felt completely calm rational as if I had just been given an antidote to a powerful drug.

You're are always the emotion - like thought. We like to separate ourselves from some thoughts, but we ARE them. The "thinker" IS the thought.
Had something similar to that which lasted about 20 hours straight, but for different reasons. Since then, I've searched for the understanding leading back to it (which also have lead me to the greatest thinkers of time, becoming a autodidact on the bargain), although that's not exactly how it works. "Back" - technically its not back or forward, but in the presence, untouched by time.
Can you relate to that?
