abcWOMAN: I can understand the question, but what do you think you’ll gain with the question? Do you think all “Not single/not looking” people will delete their profiles now? Whatever reason people have for staying here, it’s certainly none of your business or mine! You could always report people if they don’t follow the rules set by CS.
Of course I understand what you are saying. A problem I have is with, "it's certainly none of your business". Now, that may be the case in a number of circumstances, however, when someone is using a public venue such as CS, the rhetoric becomes the domain of all who participate in the conversation. So, in that light, the substance of the conversation becomes "my business" because the forum was introduced. Do you see the difference? Look at it this way: How the chef gets to the restaurant is not my concern. What he cooks for me is. Get it?
paydaydave: I think the title kind of says it all.
Personally I find it offensive when they come up as my matches...???
I'm here to meet someone...hopefully! So why match me with someone who doesn't want to meet someone?
"Not single, Not looking" should NOT be an option when filling out a profile on a dating site!
Find something else to pass your time...LIKE YOUR MATE!!
Maybe get a hobby or join a gym, a job, whatever?
It will be curious to see who dis-agrees with this and why!!
although i am no longer single, over the years i made many friends here on CS and i enjoy e-visiting with them here in the forums and in private mail. many members also know my partner as we met here on CS. i do not understand why this should be an issue for anyone...?
as for the matches that come up... that is not something individual members control, so perhaps take your issue up with the moderators regarding why they include folks who are no longer looking.
your negative judgements on folks you've never met is probably the most significant piece of information here, and most likely contributes to your inability to finding a partner.
you get what you focus on, so when you focus on those not available...guess what...
read their profiles and make your choices to connect based on the information you read. easy peezie..good luck with your search

I've certainly met far more great folks on here than not. In fact, it's about a hundred to one. It was just a question (mine) and rhetorical for the most part. It just seems inconsistent with the spirit of the club for anyone to join only to say they do not want any contact. (how goofy....) Kind of weird.

When I initially joined, I did it just to cross something off my New Year's Resolution list. Therefore, I was not really looking, and to be honest, I had absolutely no idea how these sites worked.
Then I discovered Chat, met nice people, got more confidence, and started going out on dates.
Then I met my b/f on here, so I wasn't looking anymore and changed my profile to reflect that. But I never planned on leaving the site, as I have good fun on here.

The OP comes across as not only very angry, disappointed and/or frustrated, but isn't directing his disappointment in the wrong direction. It is up to the MODERATORS of this site as to the DESIGN of this site. Let's blame the mis-leading name, Connecting Singles, on the MODS and not with the members. As for those who say/imply members who are not looking for dates, should leave....just TRY to get us to leave...... cuz were not going anywhere...
galrads: Well, since the married guys are now shackled with balls and chains, on-line dating sites has to be a better option to learning how to quilt, being a socker-dad, work, mowing the lawn, maintaining and redecorating the home and running errands.... don't you agree?
Doing all this while the misses is very busy on a dating site chatting with so called friends when not nagging or gossiping
